Rooms were clean, and the reception stuff was kind. They were a concierge service who pointed us in the direction of the closest diner to taste some American food. I greatly appreciate the kindness and warm. Welcome of Héctor the doorman. Read less

We met friends in New York and everywhere we went was made so much easier by the doorman Hector ... we loved the free cocktails every evening at the bar. The doorman Hector made us feel welcome , safe and taken care of.. would definitely go back to this hotel again and hope to see Hector again ;-)

Just a one night stay here and as Titanium Bonvoy members (at least one of us is!) stays usually go better! In this case we were able to snag a room on the 34th floor and were asked by a fellow guest whether it was quiet up there. This leads me to suggest he was somewhat disturbed by the NYC noise further down the building. To be fair, this hotel is in a very high rise area (the Chrysler Bulding is very close) which has the effect of funneling noise upwards so one does here some noise overnight but they are all iconic NYC sounds and are fairly muted. I actually prefer hearing the city I am in - I find it atmospheric and it isn't at all bothersome. Check in was easy and quick - Bonvoy status helps of course. There is a bank of 6 (I think it was 6) elevators behind reception and we found them to be fast and efficient during our stay, although one has to use one's key to access the upper floors and this system did seem a tad flaky at times. You don't want to miss this or you will be taken on a ride where the elevator wants to go, not necessarily where you want to haha. Our room was very confortable, the bed epecially, and had a nice sofa on which to relax. Not a huge room but plenty large enough and good views of NYC especially the aforementioned Chrysler Building. It looks recently refurbished although there was some minor damage to the mirror that covered the wall in the bathroom of our room that I expect will be replaced when they do the refurbish rounds again. It was very minor. If much more import is that the Westin has gone with a large and efficient walk in shower that is far preferable to the over the (useless) tub system that used to be ubiquitous. As a Brit I prefer a big deep tub in which to soak but I realize this isn't the American way. This type of shower is a good second. We were here for a short time so didn't use many of the facilities the property has to offer. We did opt for breakfast and it is very good. I imagine that many people opt for this as I understand it is something you can use your destination fee for. I hate destination fees as a practice but I realize I am yelling into the void on that - they are everywhere and appear here to stay. I could rant on about it but what's the point? If you are going to charge it, it is good that it can be used on breakfast rather than a break on the price of a naked skydiving trip or something equally useless most will never use. The downside of this is that the breakfast is very busy so earlier is probably better. Also, you get charged extra for juice! Really? Come on Westin, that's weird. So, a few niggles but overall a very good stay and the location is first class. I would certainly stay here again without hesitation - it is very good. Read less
