The hotel

Part of the very fabric of Midtown Manhattan, this Art Deco attraction is proudly capped with the red ‘New Yorker’ sign that’s made it a landmark in the city skyline. Inside its iconic 1929 shell, this Jazz Age hotel’s held on to its heritage. And it doesn’t matter what time you finish exploring, its 24-hour Tick Tock Diner will give you a taste of New York with American comfort food classics like burgers and all-day breakfasts. If you fancy something a little more upmarket, the New Yorker’s Trattoria Bianca comes with an oyster bar.

The New Yorker is conveniently located in a touristy location, right next to Penn Station. The hotel lobby is nice with an attached 24X7 Tick Tock Dinner and a small bar. However, the room is tiny with little space, and bathroom is very old (tub, faucet, shower head are outdated) and can use a update. On the other hand, the bed mattress is fairly… Read more

However, the room is tiny with little space, and bathroom is very old (tub, faucet, shower head are outdated) and can use a update. On the other hand, the bed mattress is fairly comfortable. I was able to get up early to take a very short walk to nearby bagel shop to enjoy the NYC famous bagel. Starbuck and McDonald are right across from the hotel so you will never be hungry staying at this hotel. Read less

They where spot on with this hotel it is so well positioned on 8th avenue right next to Penn station. We caught the Airtrain and subway from JFK to Penn which took about 45mins and cost $10 so handy. This art deco hotel has great views over New York. Our room was clean and functional with plenty of room. The lifts are plentiful and fast. Check is was easy and there are fees to pay. There are plenty of places to eat in the area. For breakfast we used the 24 hour diner which is attached to the hotel and the food was very good. Staff where polite and helpful. Read less

Rooms are adequate for a stay in NY in our opinion. We slept, then went out for the day; returning at night. Situated on 8th avenue near MSG you can expect a bit of noise from the road. Especially if the Knicks are playing. But it’s part of the experience. Situated on top of the 34th st A, C and E lines, it’s convenient to travel, not to mention a… Read more

Especially if the Knicks are playing. But it’s part of the experience. Situated on top of the 34th st A, C and E lines, it’s convenient to travel, not to mention a short walk from the LIRR which takes 2 stops and 20min to get to the airtrain to JFK. There’s more, but this ain’t an essay. Read less
