The hotel

Fancy staying somewhere that has been the home to a number of several Hollywood celebrities, most notably Marilyn Monrow? Look no further. A hote that has heaps of history, jazz-inspired decoration, and a central location to suit all New York visitors - the Lexington dates back to 1929, and the marble lobby may have been modernized, but it's all got it's original structure. Image of the Tripadvisor rating The Autograph means nothing when it comes to this cramped and worn hotel. Avoid.

Marriott need to think seriously about removing the "Autograph" label from this decidedly substandard hotel. My room is the size of a walk-in closet. Toilet shoved up against sink close enough that your shoulder and sink collide when seated. Toilet shoved up against sink close enough that your shoulder and sink collide when seated. The low class, cramped shoer features a shower curtain - which you just cannot have in what is supposed to be a premier property. Carpet is worn. No basic amenities like water glasses or a coffee maker. A restaurant with extremely limited dining options. This is a tired, below (well below) average property. I will be avoiding at all costs next time in nYC. Read less

I was on official travel as a government employee. The hotel was nice but my room was very low quality and not maintained. Specially the floor of the bathroom tub was worn out (see photo). Window of the room was extremely dirty, one could barely see through it. This hotel should not be listed as a 4 star hotel. Perhaps this is what the government… Read more

I have not left many negative reviews but this hotel warrants one as a warning to other travelers. Many similar options in the area. I'm writing this as a Bonvoy Platinum staying at the hotel for one Friday night. The hotel was not busy and all room types were available to book online. I checked in the evening before on the app and clicked we would be arriving at 10AM. I also called the hotel to let them know. They said they were not too busy and that it was a possibility. Both my wife and I travel frequently for business and know that an early check in was not always available. We also had requested an upgrade using one of her Bonvoy upgrades (not just bc of Platinum). This was a special night for us celebrating a milestone. We did not notify them of this. Due to a late flight we did not arrive to the hotel until Noon. There was a short line to check in. During check in we asked about the upgrade. The young woman looked at us like we were speaking another language. She said they "didn't do upgrades" (although it was clearly offered on the app). She also said there were no larger rooms available (also untrue as every room type was available for booking). We could let that pass I guess as the rate was reasonable for NYC (seasonality). Well, at least could we get into a room? She said no rooms were available and check in was a 3PM. She said the doorman would hold our bags if we'd like until a room became available. It was raining so we said we would hang out for a bit in the lobby and do some work in case something became available. We said we'd appreciate it if she could let us know if that happened. She hardly looked in our direction for the next hour. Please know that both of us are quite passive and pretty easy to please as you can see from my other reviews. There was no demand made or unpleasantness whatsoever. We set up within view of the desk and pulled out laptops/airpods and knocked out some work. For the next hour we saw many people checking in, and getting keys and going to their rooms. When the check in lady went to the back (and the coast was clear) my wife inquired to a different person who said there were rooms available and that we weren't even checked into the hotel yet? Huh? After presenting ID, credit card, etc. we had a key a few minutes later and went to the room. Never bothered to inquire again about upgrade although we were on a high floor. We were offered a $35 bar credit and free breakfast buffet for Platinum. We did not plan to, nor use the breakfast. The room was pretty tired. Very loud AC. Slow draining shower tub, beat up furniture, and ugly stacking banquet chair at the desk. Water in sink did not get very hot. Sheets were fine. Room was average size for NYC. Window shades were dirty and difficult to close. Very little street noise due to high floor which was nice. Never used the TV. No coffee in room. In the end the hotel worked out fine. We did use the $35 in the bar, albeit a manhattan and a glass of chard was almost $70 so not sure how much of a deal that was LOL. We had to leave early the next day so didn't test a late checkout. With so many similar options in midtown would not stay here again due to the check in and general lack of quality. Also they didn't post the $35 bar credit nor the points stay until we emailed them a few weeks later. Read less

Decent Location, But Hidden Fees and Poor Service Undermine the Stay The hotel has a good location and the rooms are acceptable, but several issues made the overall experience disappointing. There’s no fridge or room service, and the breakfast is both overpriced and underwhelming. You’re better off walking a few blocks north on Lexington Avenue for a much better and cheaper breakfast. The biggest frustration was the number of hidden fees not disclosed by Expedia. There’s a $35/day “destination fee” plus a $15 tax on top of the already steep $80/day parking charge—bringing parking to about $95 per day. Additionally, you’re required to notify the front desk in advance when you need your car. Despite giving about an hour’s notice, my request was never passed on, and I had to wait an extra 20 minutes in the lobby. All in all, expect to pay roughly $60 more per day than the listed rate between parking and extra fees, and plan to dine elsewhere. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great Stay at Lexington

مايو 25, 2025 Kassidy H

Had a great stay at the Lexington! Room was clean and good size for NY, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to the manager on duty that helped me out (Plachette, I believe) and to the counter staff Nicole and Yasmin!! Breakfast is not free but it’s good, no complaints there. Would stay again :)
