The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel, by Hyatt

Financial District, New York

Star rating

The hotel

Built in the same decade as the Brooklyn Bridge, The Beekman had stiff competition when it came to architectural neighbours – but its glamour and grace granted it kudos with the building buffs of the 19th century – and today. This skyscraper’s kept its drama with its marble entrance, Persian rug-slung lobby, and Victorian balustrade-draped atrium, which stretches nine storeys skyward before being capped with a glass pyramid. It’s not just opulent in design though, with its ‘nothing’s-too-much-trouble’ service and dining scene mirroring its old-world splendour and new-world luxury. Two of Manhattan’s finest names are behind The Beekman’s restaurants: Tom Colicchio reinterprets old and new classics at Temple Court, while Keith McNally recreates French brasserie elegance at Augustine. Or you could join the socialites (and sometimes celebs) at The Alley Cat for cocktails and Japanese Izakaya comfort food.

The Beekman hotel is truly the most remarkable property I've ever had the pleasure of staying at, and as someone who travels quite a bit, that's saying a lot. Not only is the property itself absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous, including the amazing bar, the service is just as outstanding. Every employee is expertly trained, professional, and courteous. The rooms are immaculate, as is the rest of the hotel, the food and drinks are excellent, and the staff is top-notch. This is THE hotel to stay at when in NYC! Read less

The Beekman went above and beyond to accommodate my wife and I. We were able to check in early and received a room upgrade. The room and hotel were extremely clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this Hotel especially if are an Amex Platinum member.

I had a great experience in this hotel and it definitely exceeded my expectation! The staffs were all very professional and friendly- particularly the front desk and the bell man. They were really helpful and doing their best to make us feel like home as we are traveling with two kids! Highly recommended!

We have stayed at the Beekman Hotel many times and generally had wonderful experiences. However, during our most recent visit over a Friday and Saturday night, we were assigned a room on the second floor that was significantly affected by vibrations and noise from the nightclub below. We simply did not sleep until 4 a.m. when the nightclub closed. Unfortunately, as the hotel was fully booked, we were unable to be relocated. While we were given a room on the highest floor for Saturday evening, it was evident that the hotel is aware of this issue but continues to book these rooms. This practice is highly disappointing and raises serious concerns about the hotel's ethics. Some lower floor rooms are simply uninhabitable when the nightclub is open and they should not be rented to hotel guests. Read less

The hotel was elegant, staff was friendly and professional, good location. A little pricy but everything else on Memorial day weekend seemed to be also. The breakfast was super expensive but good. only reason I ate there was that it was covered with amex.
