Hotel Monteleone

New Orleans, Louisiana

Star rating

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. It has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide, and traditional decor within your room that adds a timeless touch to your stay. However, the hotel has also recently renovated rooms within the Iberville Tower if you are looking for some calmer colours. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge - this has been the most celebrated bar in New Orleans since 1949, and it's still spinning, quite literally. Don't worry, the rotation is very subtle so you can still enjoy your classic cocktail at ease!

Beds were comfy. Staff was very friendly. Really impressed they would take dogs. Enjoyed the carousel bar very much, just closed a little early for it to be New Orleans. Overall very good

Adequate environment. Centrally located in the French Quarter. Safe, Clean, and pleasant. Seen better days as it was a little older and worn (they called it "historic").

The hotel was OK even though we did request a lower level because of disability and they had to move our room and there was other people’s belongings still in our room which was a bit weird but what made it really bad was the Creole restaurant and the carousel bar? Nowhere in TripAdvisor did it mention that you couldn’t feed your kids. Apparently the carousel lounge doesn’t allow take out food or minors to sit within the tables. So we headed over to the Creoloie restaurant, which is still within the hotel and I have never in all of my years and all of my travels had anybody as rude as Jasmine the person who seated us I did let the manager know because it such a negative tone for the rest of our vacation.
