Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa

Lexington, Kentucky

Star rating

The hotel

With its roots firmly in Bluegrass Country, this golf and spa resort’s wrapped in a landscape dominated by equine delights and Kentucky Bourbon Trail sights. Before you reach them, you’ll pass the hotel’s 18 hole golf course; designed by Rees Jones, son of legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones, it comes with the near-mandatory 19th Hole, where breakfasts and light American lunches are served. Dining elsewhere at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort means prime steaks and seafood at JW’s, coffee and pastries at Starbucks®, and poolside refreshments at Top Deck. The pool bar accompanies the swanky outdoor pool and patio, but you also get an incredible indoor pool to swim in, with stunning views through its dramatic glass wall; and they’ve even thrown in a full-service spa for good measure.

My husband and I are on a business related trip. He requested a king bed for us when reserved. When we arrived to the hotel, we were told we had an upgrade because we now have a balcony. We arrived to our room which is now a 2 queen room. No mention of this at check-in. Not a huge deal but still annoying. His schedule is a little different than mine. When I wanted to use the TV, I couldn’t find a remote for it. Contacted the front desk. No number listed for the front desk. Toggle for the front desk number is no longer active. There are no phone numbers available on the phone or near the phone. Tried zero. It worked to get to front desk. Requested remote. The person said they’d bring one up right away. No one showed up. Called again and no answer at front desk. Called in the morning and requested a remote No one showed up. Went to the front desk after a morning out. One person said they’d bring were aware of the request. When getting to room, a remote was on the table. Later that evening, tried the remote. The remote seemed to work fine. The tv did not work. The tv started, then shut down. We’re here for 4. Nights. I guess this wasn’t an upgrade. It was a down grade. Not impressed with the lack of urgency. The tv problem I’m sure isn’t new and had been reported. That’s the reason for the lack of the remote. I expected more from Marriott. Read less

It had been a long time since visiting this hotel/resort. I was pleased with the upgrade and remodeling for the property. And although located off of the interstate, you won't notice with the well maintained grounds and lack of highway noise! The staff was professional and attentive. I would definitely return! One note: if using ride-share inform your driver which entrance you are waiting. Read less

Our room had a giant roach in it and our shower wasn’t working. The following day we saw roaches crawling in and out of several guest rooms on our floor. We were relocated to another room that was dirty and had dust balls everywhere. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else! While the hotel appears to be nice.. it’s disgusting!!

The is supposed to be a top hotel in Lexington, Ky. The room was clean, comfortable beds, modern and undated. But the AC was horrible. Fan barely blew, and didn't blow cold air. Had it set at 65, room never got below 70. Also there was a convention going on with people partying up and down the halls ALL HOURS of night. Stay somewhere… Read more

The ice storm hit. Traveling w/family. Decided to stay here for one night. The Gov shut down the state. We were stuck here for 3 days. NO discount was offered. Money gouging at its best. NO class! Won’t EVER be back. Shame on you! This was out of our control.
