The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. We stayed in a 2queen cottage room with 2 adults and 2 children/tween. We didn’t arrive until late on and only stayed for one night, but would have happily stayed longer. When we first arrived, the valet was really helpful, showing us where to park-up to check in and then advising us that we’d be driving to our cottage and parking outside it. Check-in was quick with a really helpful colleague who gave us lots of information… including that there were bears in the area and to be sure to empty out our car entirely. Although this did give us a bit of concern about then leaving the cottage in the evening after dark. Beds were comfortable and the room was cosy with a lovely veranda you could sit on… again we avoided using because my son was worried about bears. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but the atmosphere in the lobby area was fantastic, with kids roasting marshmallows over a fire. There was a coffee machine in the room which also had tea available. There’s also a fridge and microwave - we actually brought ready-meals and microwaved them in the room… you’ll need your own cutlery/plates for this though! Yosemite is beautiful and you could spend days here - if we were to return we would definitely stay here! Read less

Beautiful hotel in fabulous grounds, perfect base for exploring the area. Didn't discover the s'mores till we were going to bed which was a shame. Nice quiet indoor pool and jacuzzi. Stayed at the 5* Aria after this which was nowhere near the quality of Tenaya.

Beautiful lodge with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. The room was immaculate, and the surrounding area was gorgeous and inviting. The lobby was welcoming, and the concierge person we talked to was extremely informative, friendly, and helpful. There was even live music being played in the lobby. Great experience!

The pool area looked amazing and there’s an indoor pool as it is too cold for outdoor swimming most of the year. There are two restaurants in the lodge, plus a market with a Starbucks. A short walk to the cottages brings you to a pizza place. We ate at Jackalopes for one dinner and two breakfasts. There is a concierge desk to book tours. It’s about 5 minutes to the park entrance, and then an hour drive on mountain roads to get to Yosemite valley. I’d love to return. Read less
