Wow! Our stay here exceeded our already high expectations in almost every way! We were promptly greeted by a valet parking attendant who also took care of our luggage. We were then warmly greeted by Azucena at the front desk. She was very welcoming, explained everything, and made our granddaughters feel like very special guests. We had a suite in the original landmark building, but Azucena suggested we take our granddaughters on the elevator in the tower building to enjoy the view from the elevator windows. They loved it! So did we. We stayed in a "Classic 1-Bedroom Executive Suite" in the landmark building. It was perfect! I highly recommend this room category. It has historic charm like high ceilings, decorative moldings, gold doorknobs and a chandelier in each room. It appeared to be recently refurbished, including plentiful outlets and a beautiful bathroom. There was a separate living room which, fortunately, was large enough for 2 rollaway beds. The only negative of the entire stay was the mattress on the sleeper sofa. I don't expect much of these, but this was unusable, even for an 8 year old. There was no padding and it was like laying directly on the springs. Thankfully, they brought a second rollaway very quickly so both granddaughters had very comfortable beds. Another example of the excellent service throughout our stay! The club lounge was one of the best we've been in. It's very large and elegantly furnished. There was plenty of seating even during the busy breakfast time. The evening food and breakfast both had a great variety of high quality food. And the service was excellent. The location is perfect. Right across from Union Square. Many restaurants, coffee shops, and stores nearby. And the Cable Car starting point is only 2 blocks away. We've stayed in several San Francisco hotels over the years and this is by far our favorite. We will be back! Read less

From the friendly, professional staff to the beautifully updated lobby and club lounge, everything was top-notch. The kids loved the glass elevators with incredible city views, and we loved the spacious, well-kept rooms and exceptional housekeeping. We also appreciated the hotel's effort to preserve its rich history, with photos of famous guests like Queen Elizabeth and President Obama displayed thought. Thank you to the St Francis team for a stay that brought back the kind of hospitality we thought was long gone. Highly recommended! Read less

My wife and I spent two separate nights inn the Westin and were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms comfortable, well stocked, and overlooked Union Square. One aspect I was surprised to discover is the history of the hotel. A room on the first floor explore the history of the hotel including washing silver coins so they did not leave tarnish on white gloves! I had heard about this in my past but did not know the this is the hotel where that was done for guests. The lobby was fun with trees decorated with Cherry Blossoms that I was told were changed to a fall theme. Located near the end of the Cable Car line it's convenient to get around San Francisco. Five stars: The professionalism of the staff; attention to detail in style, lighting, comfort throughout public areas and rooms; very clean; amazing view; fascinating history! Spacious bathroom for dressing, with room for an ironing board. Extra appreciation for quality of the food (club breakfast buffet includes smoked salmon, fresh berries, croissants, sparkling water and good coffee; casual, central cafe serves tasty, light fare in a bright, comfortable, calm space, despite lobby setting). Maximum appreciation for the friendly, helpful staff — especially Luis at the front desk, a gentleman who represents the hotel and San Francisco so well, makes guests welcome and sparks enthusiasm for a stay. Historical hotel in SF union square. We got upgrade to a bigger room facing Union Square. Being a Marriott platinum member , we have access to the Grand Club. Breakfast quality is average but the club has nice drinks, yogurts and kettle chips. We didn’t use the gym but it looks quite big with many gym equipments.
