There is a DJ in the lobby on some nights. It is a very short walk to The Cannery, the Anchorage, Scoma’s, and the Buena Vista cafe. It is also an easy walk to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. A major issue arose due to the hotel failing to communicate the correct booking policies in advance. When I called to resolve it, I spoke with Harvey, who unfortunately was not helpful at all. He refused to acknowledge the hotel’s mistake and kept me on the phone for over 40 minutes without offering any resolution or taking accountability. His attitude was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the call. Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying here or trusting their customer service. Read less

We stayed here for three nights before a cruise. The hotel was excellent. The rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean and well equipped. The hotel offered free beer and wine for guests between 17:00 and 16:00 and free tea and coffee in the morning. The hotel is in a great location for Fisherman’s Wharf and I would definitely stay here again.

I had quite a pleasant stay here last weekend, on a trip that was a mix of business and pleasure. Even before the stay, via some email exchanges and Q&A, my experience with their customer service gave a sense of what was to follow. First, location is excellent, a stone's throw away from everything worth seeing in the area. I love hotels like these- not too 'corporate' (even if this is part of the IHG chain) and with charm without being a tiny boutique hotel. I've always had a great experience with Kimpton, and this was no exception. Also, during my stay I saw the Singapore Airlines crew, so we're all probably on to something! The very acclaimed Filipino restaurant Abaca is on-site, a DJ spinning by the front desk on evenings. Complimentary coffee bar in the morning, wine hour in the evening. Front desk staff I interacted with were great, no matter the hour. Down-to-earth is the best description that comes to mind, thinking back. Upon arrival, I first found my room nondescript, even bare bones: no artwork on the walls, lacking a certain pizzaz. BUT...once I got settled, I found myself very comfortable in the quarters. Everything is clean/not run down, and I must say one other stand-out: well-lit! I don't usually see multiple lighting options/lamps in hotel rooms during my frequent travels, so this was a highlight for people like me (working in the room, makeup application, and the like!)
