Our entire family of 14 kids and grandkids spent a terrific weekend at Mission Bay Resort celebrating a milestone birthday. The location, staff, room assignments, and breadth of activities for every family member were all top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel for any reason, business, pleasure, or just because. You won t be disappointed!

Avoid holiday weekend. Staff is overwhelmed and rooms are not available for early check in. Pool is overwhelmingly crowded. Parking is limited. The pool was so packed there was no seats. Not many places to eat. Also the view is not that good. Will stay with usual Paradise Point

This turned out to be an extra resort tax. Not advised at check in or checkout. Of course likely such an increase will be covered in the wording but such an increase was dealt with underhand especially given my son was charged exactly the same way. Poor performance from such a hotel group. Read less

The best part of our stay was enjoying Mother's Day Weekend with my daughter and son. Having the room ready before 4pm was a plus after a 3+ hour flight. The quality of the room was average as it had a musty odor and a/c blew directly on to both beds. Having a room at the completely end of the resort was not enjoyable-ask for a garden view if you don't want pool view- and if you can get a pit, get it. It looked cozy in the evening. We taxi'd so it appeared to have parking and is VERY pet friendly. Will remember that next time. Suggestion? Have your Front Desk personnel make eye contact when speaking. SELL YOUR OUTLETS. Just don't ramble through "the gym is that way" and "walk this way around the entire complex, across a parking lot to your room". What time are the outlets open? Promote the type of food they serve. Look like you actually like your property. Tell guests about the beach chairs and to check out pool activities. There is plenty to do right on property. Very robotic and nothing like their fabulous servers in each of the 3 restaurants. All 3 should cross sell menu items. And what's with Duck on every Covewood menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner? The food is great and servers and their restaurant managers are top notch. THEY MADE OUR STAY MOST ENJOYABLE. Food Service at Covewood - Mother's Day Brunch. At 1045 am NOTHING BREAKFAST RELATED, again with the Duck, other than a brunch board and french toast, HOWEVER ROGER TO THE RESCUE. He has Chef make pancakes for my a son. No one told us after 2 days of asking that breakfast items stopped at 1030, no 10, but the time kept changing on Sunday morning when we asked for breakfast items at a brunch, at 1045. Thank you Roger! At Plaza del Sol, Chris M and Salvador made our Saturday evening SO enjoyable. Service and interaction was outstanding. Sincere, pleasant and so appreciated. As a matter of fact, we caught Chris serving dinner at Coverwood on Sunday evening in the full service restaurant. Wish we had him Friday night. Server was ok, not too special. $ 5 for a few pieces of bread in a basket? Really? People - please serve bread when guests sit down for dinner. Back to the Plaza; unfortunately it is not open on Sundays. Only from Thursday to Saturday. Great light menu and delish pizza. The pool bar/quick serve and staff are spectacular. Angel in particular is amazing. Suggestion: "sell" the picnic basket option to guests even if they don't have a cabana....just a thought. The pool staff is great as well. Very clean tidying up, friendly to replace a lost ping pong ball, or hand out beach chairs. Loved the Smores night, movie night and Ice cup treats. Finally, Housekeeping can make or break you. Take it from me who worked in Sales for Marriott and Hotel. This staff is incredible! They monitor daily service and do a fantastic job. We forgot our privacy door sign one more before breakfast and they quickly texted to follow up. When we designated a time to return- they did and I feel they and the servers really are the ones that make this hotel a pleasure to experience. Read less

Unfortunately, my experience with this hotel was very disappointing. I made a reservation in error due to a miscommunication within our team and reached out to the property just minutes later to explain the situation and ask for a correction. Despite the clear and honest mistake — and the fact that the request came almost immediately — the hotel was completely inflexible and uncooperative. In the hospitality industry, a bit of understanding and empathy can go a long way, especially when dealing with professionals who travel frequently and may consider returning in the future. Sadly, that was not the case here. This lack of basic customer service and unwillingness to assist in resolving an honest error speaks volumes about their approach to guest relations. I cannot recommend this property and will not consider staying here again. Read less
