Our stay at the Westin in Mammoth Lakes almost didn't happen. The road between Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes was closed due to a forest fire and we called the hotel to cancel. Valerie at the front desk answered our call and was aware of the fire and assured us that there would be no cancellation fees or other penalty for cancelling at the last minute. Knowing how disappointed we were, she suggested an alternate route to the hotel which ended up being quite interesting and scenic. Valerie saved the day and our vacation too! The hotel is at a great location across the street from The Village at Mammoth. The staff made us feel welcome, the room was clean and comfortable, parking was easy and convenient, and our stay was well worth the scenic detour and extra time it took to get there. Extra "THANK YOU" to Valerie for suggesting an alternate route to get to the hotel even though she was willing to honor our cancellation request. Read less

Wonderful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We ran into a situation that needed some assistance and Valerie at the front desk kindly helped us through it. Great experience. Will be our hotel of choice for us anytime we are in the area. We plan to return often.

Well, snowboarding and skiing aside we had a wonderful time! Staff, excellent, accommodations, excellent, on site restaurant, excellent, view, breathtaking! It was a wonderful, quiet, peaceful mini vacation for us! The drive into the quaint village just takes a few minutes and a few miles down the road is the town. Both very quaint offering lots of shops and restaurants. Farther down the road is access via gondola or ski lifts to an elevation of 11000 plus feet with an even more spectacular view of what Mother Nature has given us and those enjoying the slopes either skiing or snowboarding! We could deal with the altitude and look forward to returning to this absolutely beautiful hotel and its surrounding area! The friendliness of the hotel staff makes it enjoyable if just to hang around the hotel, the pool and hot tub area and enjoy walking around the area. Read less
