I was disappointed by both the service and the lack of recognition for Marriott Bonvoy Gold members. After checking in just after 4 PM, I waited over an hour for my suitcases to be delivered to my room. Despite calling the front desk, I was simply transferred to the bell desk—where no one answered. I eventually went down to the lobby myself and found my suitcases left unattended in the middle of the lobby. This lack of care and communication is unacceptable for any guest, let alone one with elite status. Additionally, as a Bonvoy Gold member, I did not feel welcomed or acknowledged. According to the hotel’s official website for the explantion about destination fee, Gold and above members are entitled to a daily welcome amenity, which includes bubbly, mixed nuts, and cookies. I was not offered this at check-in. When I inquired about it later that day, I was initially told that there was no gift for Gold members. Only after I pointed out the wording on their own website was I told I could pick up a gift bag at the front desk. This experience left me feeling undervalued and frustrated. It wasn’t about the amenity itself—it was about the lack of hospitality and the apparent disregard for Gold members. With so many Platinum and Titanium members at this property, it seems that Gold members are deprioritized to the point of being overlooked entirely. If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member expecting recognition and a welcoming experience, I would recommend considering other hotels where your loyalty is more appreciated. Read less

We checked in to find that we are in a handicapped accessible room, with low bed, low coffee pot, strange bathtub with high sides and very slippery floor. Can’t figure out how to turn on/off bathroom lights, and no bathroom fan, apparently. Can’t work the TV, even though two engineers came up and did have Netflix working. There are a couple very dim lights in the room, not sufficient even for unpacking after sundown. Ate at the restaurant (the Yard House) and while the food was fine, it was so LOUD that we could not hear each other even when we yelled: lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off of and the staff kept turning up the music volume (probably to hide the loudness of people trying to make themselves heard). Wish there was a quiet spot in the hotel to enjoy a nice quiet nightcap and talk about our day, but there is not- and no, we do not want to order drinks from room service. I am a Bonvoy member so I get basic wifi free, but even so my kindle can’t download and some websites do not load completely on my iPhone. Glad we are only here for two nights. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating International Travelers: Avoid the Refund Nightmare

Be extremely careful when staying at Marriott Copley Place. They charge a $100 per night incidental fee (in my case, $300 for three nights) upfront on your debit or credit card. What they don’t make clear is that getting this money back is a slow and bureaucratic process. Despite multiple follow-ups, I still haven’t received the refund weeks… Read more

What they don’t make clear is that getting this money back is a slow and bureaucratic process. Despite multiple follow-ups, I still haven’t received the refund weeks after checkout. For international guests, especially, this can become a major hassle. This kind of lack of transparency and customer service is unacceptable from a brand like Marriott. Read less

I'd like to commend Alma at the Concierge desk and Laura and Robin in the M Lounge. They personified grace, hospitality, and warmth and made me feel right at home.
