The hotel

For travellers who aren’t satisfied with a simple ‘one pool, one bar, one restaurant’ kind of holiday, this island escape overflows with choice. Its private white sand beach accompanies seven fabulous swimming pools, including a pirate-themed aqua zone for children to cool off on sun-soaked Marjan Island. It has 12 places to drink and dine, from family-style Italian Vespa to the gastropub food and fun of The Anchor, and the Arabic snacks and shisha of ShoFee Rooftop Bar. And, while the beachfront setting, eforea spa, and contemporary styling of Doubletree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island attract couples and groups of friends, families get the bonus of the kids’ club’s climbing wall, Arcade Zone, and huge playground with its climbing structures, trampolines and shaded toddler area.

My family and I returned from this hotel yesterday 4th June after a 9 night stay. We have a wonderful time and are looking forward to booking again. The food in the buffet restaurant is good. Many different choices, to suit children ( 2 x 6yrs olds and one 11) and the grown ups. It can be busy but staff at the door find you a table and arrange drinks. There is anther restaurant for lunch (brasserie) which is very good and near the kids pool. We also ate at the Asian restaurant which was excellent. All inclusive drinks are also served in all restaurants. The staff in the hotel are all very helpful and were particularly attentive when my daughter was poorly and needed a Doctor. They even sent a card and basket of fruit to our room. There was no issues in getting sunbeds, even though the first week was busy (UK half term). Just speak to the pool attendant and they will help find sunbeds. There are many pools and of course the beach (jet skis were great). The water park was a hit with the kids and also the kids club. Staff to mention (apologies, I have forgotten some names) are Tiara (she was great with our children, made them special drinks etc) in main buffet restaurant, Pan, house maid (kept our room spotless) and Kimo tour / excursion organiser, he can find you a good deal. Kimo organised us a private driver for the day at a great price. Also, the Bedouin oasis desert trip was excellent and I recommend this. All the family agreed that we will return to this hotel!! The food is good, but at some days we really struggled to choose! We prefer more variety at holidays especially when you in a 5* hotel. The food choice was more like 3* hotel. The rooms were spacious, the bed comfy, all surrounding in and outside the hotel was super clean. The staff was very polite and happy to help with a smile on. The one negative thing is that when you arrive after a long time journey at around 3am, there is nothing for you to eat , hopefully that will improve. I've been told to order through room service which is not included in all inclusive. Not a great welcome for me. Read less

The staff make you feel really welcome, from reception, restaurant, bar staff and animation team. For example Mousse from the animation team is very polite and comes out of his way to make friendly conversation. Overall would definitely recommend this hotel to other people. The only criticism I would say is that I don't agree with the 'ultra" all inclusive and that all inclusive package means all inclusive. This needs looking at in my opinion. It would be nice to have at least 1 complimentary meal in each restaurant and the drinks need to be the same across the board However do not allow that to put people off. It's a great hotel in a great location (far more quiet than dubai city) and would return Well done to all the staff Read less

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely Hilton Hotel recently (May 2025) As a family of 5 this couldn't of been better for us. Childrens Ages were 4, 6 & 8 and there was plenty for them to be occupied with. Arrival - upon arrival we had a swift check in, with the added bonus of having one of their cookies, nice touch after a long day travelling. Our rooms were not quite ready, but we were assisted to the changing rooms so we could get into our swimming gear to relax by the sea & pool. We were also given our Ultra All-Inc wristbands at check in so could go for lunch when we were ready. Once our rooms were ready we loved how spacious they were and that we had guaranteed interconnecting rooms so we were all close. Room service was great, they did a wonderful job of keeping our room tidy each day and also responded to our request of fresh sheets when we requested them. I would highly recommend upgrading from All Incl' to ULTRA - this will give you access to all the restaurants on site - you'll have to judge if the increase justifies it for your visit. For us, it was only about £500 extra (total) from the all incl' so was a no brainer for us. You can also take advantage of the minibar in the room and drinks at the numerous drink bars around the site. We sampled all the restaurants on site and thought that BRASSERIE was the best for us. The Tuna Nicoise salad was a favourite of mine. Vespa (the italian) was also very nice which is next door to Brasserie. A special mention to Swastika who worked both Vespa and Brasserie, she was amazing, our daughters loved her! She definitely made our trip more memorable - you've got a great employee. The beach was glourious, we spent most days between the beach and the kids pool. The sea was so warm and clear, kids loved it, and also hunting for the hermit crabs! The kids pool was intimate and well shaded which was good to keep out of the blazing May sun! The splash park was also great and a good place to cool down! - only recommendation would be to extend the blue matting at the bottom of the steps, gets crowded and the paved pathway gets extremely hot, so if your sandals aren't on the mat, your feet are paying for it! Evening entertainment whilst we were there was fine for us (Singers), a few people i heard complain about it not being very interesting for the kids, but if you want kids entertainment then I would suggest you go to Greece/Spain. The onsite kids club was great as well, 2 of our 3 kids loved it and we struggled to get them out of there! If you're planning on coming to this hotel for a relaxing break and for time to reconnect with the family then don't hesitate. Book it up and get the ultra All Inclusive. If you're coming here expecting to see Dubai, then you'll be disappointed, RAK is NOT Dubai. Rent a car if you want to see Dubai. We rented and visited twice during our stay, once to the mall and once to the Palm, both times It took over an hour each way driving. There is a nice Mall about 5 mins drive away from this hotel (Al Hamra Mall) very nice and clean. Overall i would rate 10/10 for a family holiday and wouldn't hesitate in booking again. All the staff were great and added to our experience. Thank you! Read less
