The hotel

Overlooking the beautiful bay of Grand Baie, the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa is bursting with Creole charm and is ideally located for exploring the nearby restaurants, bars and shops. All rooms have been sumptuously decorated with cool, soothing tones and are dotted amongst the grounds. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from your private balcony or terrace, admiring stunning views of the surrounding gardens or swimming pool. Water sports are, of course, in ample supply. Windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling and pedal boats are complimentary, as is a glass-bottom boat ride so you can admire life below the waves without getting wet! Pay a bit extra and you can join PADI qualified instructors on diving expeditions and set sail on the resorts catamaran for an exciting excursion. The Kids & Teens kiosk will keep little ones entertained with a whole range of exciting activities. There’s also the delightful Seven Colours Spa should a spot of pampering, well-deserved no doubt, appeal. Le Food Comptoir serves a delicious range of local dishes as well as more international favourites. Lazy Lobster, set right beside the ocean, is more suited to special occasions, taking you on a culinary journey you’ll never forget.

Where is it

Located on the north coast of Mauritius, overlooks the aptly named Grand Baie. The bustling town centre is just a short walk away. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Hotel information

95 rooms on 3 floors in colonial-style buildings scattered throughout the grounds. All with air-conditioning, terrace or balcony, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, iron and board* (on request). 

Apartments with 1 king-size bed and a trundle bed, small kitchen and bathroom, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 kids (under 12 years old).

All Inclusive of: Daily buffet breakfast at the main restaurant - Daily lunch at the main restaurant, plus daily lunch at Lazy Lobster (weather permitting) with selected items included in the à la carte menu - Daily dinner (buffet or table d’hôte) at the main restaurant - A Rs 900 credit per person per night for dinner at Lazy Lobster restaurant (weather permitting) - Afternoon tea/ coffee & pancakes and/or daily Mauritian delicacies - Snacking options at the street food kiosk - Soft drinks/ juices/ mineral water/ local beers, cocktails, local spirits and house wines by the glass - A picnic box will be available for guests leaving the resort for the day (must be booked 24-hours before at the reception counter) - In Room tea and coffee tea/coffee facilities - Mini-bar including soft drinks, local juices, water and local beers only.

Comfort Rooms with garden or pool views and 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years old and 1 baby.

Family Comfort Rooms with the same facilities as a Comfort Room but with 1 king-size bed or two single beds and a trundle bed in a separate room, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children or 2 teenagers and 1 baby (cot on request).

Privilege Rooms are larger with garden or pool views and 1 king-size and single bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child or 1 teenager. 

Guests staying in Privilege Rooms receive:

- A la carte dinner on a daily basis (without supplement* and excluding seafood) at the Beach restaurant

- One full day catamaran cruise (once per stay) including open bar and lunch on board (departure from Sunset Boulevard's jetty and weather permitting). Minimum 7 nights stay required

- Upgraded room experience with a pillow menu included

- Nespresso Machine (capsules available with a supplement).

Le food Comptoir (buffet restaurant, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner), Lazy Lobster* (beach restaurant, à la carte seafood menu). La Varangue (main bar). La Crique (beach bar serving drinks and snacks).

We really liked the lots of activities and beautiful garden! The best part was the staff who are extremely nice and informative. They are really attentive and Aurora was really friendly and helpful, thank you for that! The food was also great and abundant. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful stay! Mauritius has been beautiful and this hotel is lovely. The staff go above and beyond - no request is too much. They really do go the extra mile. The pool is great, and the beach is small but perfectly formed. We did B&B and the breakfast is really good. We’ve also tried the evening buffet, and have eaten in the A La Carte restaurant and both are good. The lunch options from the bar are very nice - the paninis are tasty and the pizza is great. There are lots of guest activities that are free, too, and they actively encourage participation in these, which is great. Stand outs are the leisure garden, and all the on water activities. The check in procedure at the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel was efficient and we felt very welcomed to this charming establishment. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this seemed the perfect place for it. We were exhausted after our journey and after a brief exploration of our immediate vicinity, retired to our room. We had booked an apartment, which was spacious, and had the added advantage of a kitchenette. At 11.30pm we were woken up by painful bites and intense itching. We checked on the bed and were horrified to see many insects crawling on the sheets . We immediately contacted the duty manager, who noted the same. There was no option, but to relocate to another room. The next 2 rooms we viewed were filthy, with hair , dirt and dust on the bedding. It was past midnight and we were exhausted, had incessant itching and were frustrated. They changed the bedding in the third room and our luggage was moved in. The next morning, we were introduced to the operational manager, Mr Ludovic. He was a very polite and respectful gentleman. He apologised for the distress that we were exposed to. He also stated that we will not be charged for the initial night stay and for the upgrade to the replacement room. This was supposed to be a dream celebration for us, but had commenced with a nightmare. This was my 10th visit to Mauritius, and this stay was disappointing. Read less

Great spot, close to good restaurants and bars with great music. The hotel staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely ambience, Princess Aurora is superb! Rooms very comfortable, decor is beautiful. 🤩 ☀️ 😎 Would recommend for families, friends or couples
