The Ravenala Attitude

I stayed 4 nights with my daughter and family and it was so nice. The food was incredible, the bed comfortable and for my daughter, she had so much fun in the kids club😊 if you want a hotel to relax but you have kids, it's the place to be😄 they have so much activities for children from 3 to 12 years old. I stayed at the Balaklava Beach Ravenala Attitute. I think they are the same company. All staff was very nice and very helpful, the hotel was clean and the food was amazing. The Acting Executive Chef Vishal in particular, made my holiday very enjoyable. I am allergic to so many things and he made sure that I can eat nice food safely at every meal. Most of the times his team prepared amazing food for me. Mahen, one of the Chefs is very talented, I also had the best Indian beef curry that I ever tasted from the Chef who is the head of Indian cuisine. I could tell that Vishal is a very inspiring leader in the kitchen, as his positive energy and can-do attitude were shared by all kitchen staff. The beach bar staff were excellent too, Shivam and Rai are great and Akshay Mungur would make the most delicious cocktails. At the reception, Veena and Richard Duty Manager were really helpful. Also the cleaning team who cleaned our room were so polite and professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Read less

Suomeksi(below in english): Olimme täällä häämatkalla ja suosittelemme hotellia todella. Palvelu on erittäin ystävällistä ja huomaavaista. Majoituimme huoneeseen vain aikuisille tarkoitetulta alueelta, tälle ehdoton suositus jos matkustat ilman lapsia tai tulet häämatkalle tms. Suosittelemme myös ottamaan all-inclusiven, sillä tuohon huoneluokkaan kuuluu aivan huippu shusi ravintola sekä omat aurinkotuolit vain aikuisille tarkoitetulta rannan osalta. Tarjoilijat ovat erittäin ystävällisiä ja kaikkia juomia toimitetaan paikallesi usein jopa ennen kuin olet kerinnyt sitä pyytää. Tästä erityiset kiitokset "viiksimiehelle rannalla" ja sekä pilottilaseja käyttävälle tarjoilijalle allasbaarissa, aivan timanttista palvelua. Hotellin buffet ravintolan ruoka on aamuisin hyvää, päivisin ja iltaisin kohtuullista, toisinaan hyvää. Tarjolla on todella paljon intialaista ruokaa, joka varmasti siitä pitävälle on oikein maistuvaa. All-inclusiveen kuuluu myös useita ala-carte ravintoiloita, joita on mahdollista varata illalliselle. Hotelliin kirjautuessa sinulle kerrotaan, että riittää kun näihin ravintoiloihin varaa pöydän samana aamuna. Tämä ei missään nimessä pidä paikkaansa vaan nuo ravintolat kannattaa heti varata mahdollisimman moneksi illaksi eteenpäin. Näistä ravintoiloista erityisesti the bistro ja kot nou olivat aivan loistavia. Erityis kiitos vielä the bistron henkilökunnalle loistavasta palvelusta. Hotellin ranta on miellyttävä ja turvallinen uida, sillä vesi on hiekkapohjaista ja tasaisesti syvenevää. Vesi on kuitenkin moneen muuhun alueeseen nähden sameahkoa, joten snorklausta täälä ei pääse tekemään. Hotelli järjestää kuitenkin ilmaisia snorkalus retkiä ymmärtääkseni päivittäin. Ei miinuksia vaan huomioitavaa: Mauritius on trooppinen saari, jossa on paljon kasvillisuutta. Hotellin alueella on myös paljon puita, pensaita ynnä muita viheralueita. Alueella on siis paljon elämää, niinkuin luonnossa kuuluu olla. Näimme mm koiria, kissoja, rapuja, kuoriaisia, hedelmälepakoita ja lintuja. Näistä mistään ei ole sinulle haittaa (linnut vähän ärsyttävät aamupalalla), mutta jos pelkäät kaikkea elävää, niin tämä kannattaa huomioida. Huomioitavaa on, että ainuttakaan hyttystä emme nähneet koko reissun aikana missään osassa saarta vaikka kiersimme myös luonnonpuistoja. Tässä saattoi olla tuuriakin toki. Mauritiuksella ilmankosteus on usein todella miellyttävän korkea, mutta tästä johtuen usein suljetuissa huoneissa haisee kosteus, niin myös meillä vaikka majoituimme ymmärtääkseni hotellin kalleimmissa huoneissa. Tämä sama haju oli kaikkialla suljetuissa tiloissa missä kävimme saarella, joten kyseessä ei liene vika vaan ominaisuus. Olemme Suomessa vahvasti allergisia pölyille ja hajuille, mutta meitä tuo kosteuden haju ei vaivannnut. Tiivistettynä suosittelemme hotellia kovasti. Meidän matka oli varattu TUI:n kautta. Same in english: We were here on our honeymoon and we highly recommend the hotel. The service is very friendly and attentive. We stayed in a room in the adults-only area, which is definitely recommended if you are traveling without children or coming for a honeymoon, etc. We also recommend taking the all-inclusive option, as that room category includes a top-notch sushi restaurant and your own sun loungers on the adults-only beach. The waiters are very friendly and all drinks are often delivered to you even before you have even asked for them. Special thanks to the "moustache man on the beach" and the waiter wearing pilot glasses at the pool bar, absolutely brilliant service. The food in the hotel's buffet restaurant is good in the mornings, reasonable during the day and in the evenings, sometimes good. There is a lot of Indian food on offer, which is definitely very tasty for those who like it. The all-inclusive option also includes several ala-carte restaurants, which can be booked for dinner. When you check in at the hotel, you are told that you only need to book a table for these restaurants that morning. This is absolutely not true, but you should book those restaurants for as many evenings in advance as possible. Of these restaurants, the bistro and kot nou in particular were absolutely brilliant. Special thanks to the staff at the bistro for their excellent service. The hotel's beach is pleasant and safe to swim in, as the water is sandy and gradually deepens. However, the water is murky compared to many other areas, so snorkeling is not possible here. However, the hotel organizes free snorkeling trips daily, as I understand. No cons, but things to note: Mauritius is a tropical island with a lot of vegetation. The hotel area also has a lot of trees, bushes and other green areas. So there is a lot of life in the area, as it should be in nature. We saw dogs, cats, crabs, beetles, fruit bats and birds. None of these will bother you (the birds are a bit annoying at breakfast), but if you are afraid of everything alive, then this is worth considering. It is worth noting that we did not see a single mosquito during the entire trip in any part of the island, even though we also visited nature parks. This may have been luck, of course. In Mauritius, the humidity is often really pleasantly high, but because of this, closed rooms often smell of humidity, and so did we, even though we stayed in the most expensive rooms in the hotel. This same smell was everywhere in the closed spaces we visited on the island, so it is probably not a defect but a feature. We are strongly allergic to dust and odors in Finland, but the smell of humidity did not bother us. In summary, we highly recommend the hotel. Our trip was booked through TUI. Read less

Great welcoming from the responsible. However I was dispppinted by woman at the bar. The legendous Mauritius smile is missing. As a mauritian i feel as if i am disturbing her... Also very disppointed by cocktails which are tasteless, wondering if they know how to do a simple Mojito or Pinacola. Wondering if its all inclusive that's why the cocktails are served without that passion. Ducks in the pool, its pretty looking but is it hygienic?? Big thanks for the activities.. we dont get bored and the hotel is good looking. Food is ok and service aim for improvement.. or perhaps we are mauritians... Read less
