The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

LUX* Le Morne is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Want to disconnect and recharge? Then book a room here! It’s also genuinely gay-friendly, which made us feel very welcome. The hotel has a fantastic location right by Le Morne Brabant. The beach itself is stunning – although we personally found the sand at Belle Mare a bit finer. But the sea here? Absolutely dreamy. We stayed in a Deluxe Room. It was clean and nicely furnished. Ours seemed slightly older, as one of the light switches came loose – but that wasn’t a problem for us. The only real downside was the proximity to the road – we could hear cars passing by, especially from the bathroom. However, we spoke to some staff members who said this issue is already being addressed. We were warmly welcomed by Vyshee, who showed us around and explained everything. She was incredibly friendly and charming – truly excellent service! She also told us we absolutely had to meet Megane, and we’re so glad we did. Megane is part of the beach team and just as open and fun as Vyshee. She also mixes amazing cocktails. Top-notch service again. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend much time with them – but we definitely plan to make up for it next time. Hans made sure everything was fine during our short stay, which we appreciated a lot. Ravish (or Rivash? – the bar manager at the pool bar near The Beach) made us feel right at home, as if we’d been there many times before. Jason from Guest Relations was always there to listen and clearly cared about our comfort. Have questions? Go to him – he’s fantastic. A special thank-you goes to Moonesh, the Front Office Manager. He is incredibly friendly, attentive, and simply a wonderful person. No surprise he has such a great team around him. His warm, helpful nature truly stood out. The Food: Since we only stayed one night, we didn’t get to try much. But we had the evening buffet, which was generous and had something for everyone. Be sure to try Varuna’s ice cream, either at the buffet or beach bar – absolutely delicious and highly recommended! At Maison LUX*, you’ll find Esha, who prepares your frappés and coffees with a lot of love. Don’t miss out on the pastries there – they’re delightful. There was also a fantastic bartender (his name started with R, used to work on a cruise ship, quite tall – possibly the bar manager), who not only made great cocktails but also shared some fun stories with us. Since our stay was so short, we’re already planning to return – and this time, we’ll make sure to enjoy it to the fullest! Read less

We spent 9 nights at this resort as a couple for vacay in May/June. We’ve been staying in the Ocean Junior Front Suite with the all-inclusive package. Environment/Location: The Hotel is wonderfully placed into the beautiful nature. That scenic is just incredible! The beach was very impressive – far superior to others we saw on this side of the island, both in cleanliness and tranquility. From the Airport it is still a 1,5h Car Ride to the hotel but it’s worth it. Guests: If you are hoping for an adults only hotel then this could be the wrong choice. During our stay there were a lot of families with small children (< 6 years). Service: Our last destination were the Maldives and we were a little surprised that Lux Le Morne hasn‘t the same level in service. But to be fair: it‘s still very good compared to the service-poor european Hotels/Resorts but you can’t compare to the maldives! Some people we would like to thank who made our Trip special behause of their hospitality are Hossen and Abi. Thank you! Food & Drink: Everybody told us im advance about the special mauritian kitchen and their delicious dishes. We‘ve come with very high expectations and were very dissappointed. But as indian dish and flavour lovers they couldn‘t stand a Chance. In our opinion it needs more flavours, Not to taste Like bland-french-Food. Despite our strong opinion about the food, most of the people liked the food. Drinks we couldn‘t comment because we were just drinking water. The only alcoholic drink we tried was a classic mojito, which didn‘t taste well, so we stuck to water. Unfortunately the blender wasn‘t working so we had no opportunity to try smoothies or detox drinks, which sounded great. Accommodation: The Suite was spacious and came with some nice amenities. We very liked the bohemian-beach-Style-vibe of the Suite. Just the TV lacked streaming capabilities like Netflix. We felt a little bit unlucky because the sprinkler system turned automatically on every night at 1 am and was very loud, but maybe this was a suite-related problem. Facilities & Activities: The spa is a nice change. The gym has everything you need for some vacay-workouts. You can do watesports such as paddle boarding, canoeing, snorkelling, and pedal boat. We didn‘t do the dolphin Tours but just heard good things. Maybe next time! A well-rounded, enjoyable stay with beautiful scenic. Despite some minor things it’s a recommendable resort. Read less

The location of this hotel is incredibly special. The beach and the mountain combined created such a peaceful atmosphere and stunning views in all directions. The sea here offers one of the best snorkelling opportunities. Hotel staff were pleasant but i think they were short staffed. Had issues with room service and sun lounger service not turning up etc. The buffet had a good range of choice but I was not sure it was always prepared fresh. The hotel itself had nice facilities. The pools were beautifully done but the one closest to our room was out of order for the majority of our stay. Decor at the hotel was tired and I understand the hotel is due for a refurb next year. Wouldn’t call it a 5 star experience at the moment but 5 star for location and sea. Read less
