The hotel

Infused with the charm of its sugar plantation past, this refined hotel retains its colonial style. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel occupies a delightful setting in the Bel Ombre nature reserve, in a tropical garden through which the Citronniers River flows. Suites are spacious, decorated in 19th-century style but with an impressive range of amenities and a resident host at your service. The Seven Colours Spa is a serene haven, with treatments to harmonise body, mind and energy. There are two lovely pools including 1 adult-only heated pool (coming soon in November 2024), with access to an additional pool at C Beach Club, water sports in abundance and two nearby championship golf courses. Guests have access to 13 restaurants and eight bars across the Domaine de Bel Ombre — there's a wonderful selection of dining at Heritage Le Telfair, including Annabella’s on the banks of the river with an interactive show-kitchen, and Gin’Ja serving Pan Asian cuisine on the beach. Treat yourself to a meal at Le Chateau de Bel Ombre, an enchanting 19th-century manor house, or head to the trendy lifestyle hotspot, C Beach Club.

Where is it

At Bel Ombre, on the mountainous south coast, surrounded by a nature reserve. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

158 suites on 2 floors, all with a resident host. All with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, balcony or terrace, flatscreen TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi, mini-bar*, tea-making facilities, Espresso coffee machine with three capsules, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. Deluxe Suites with 1 queen-size bed or twin beds, plus a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Room upgrades

Deluxe Sea View Suites are as Deluxe Garden View Suites, but with a sea view.

Deluxe Beachfront Suites are directly on the beach or on the first floor with a balcony, with panoramic beach views and 1 queen-size bed or 2 twin beds plus a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Junior Suite Garden View rooms overlook the lush gardens and river, and are on either the ground floor or first floor. With a canopy queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 infant.

Junior Suite Beachfront rooms overlook the beach and sea, from either the ground or first floor. With a canopy queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 infant.

Senior Suites are available with either garden views or sea views. With a separate living/dining area to the bedroom, a canopy queen-size bed, a dining table and sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Ocean Suite Beach Front rooms are on the ground floor only, with direct access to the beach. With a separate living/dining room to the bedroom, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower. The bedroom features a canopy queen-size bed, and the living room a dining table and sofa bed. Sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults.

Please note: a baby cot can be added on request. Children are classed as under 12 years.

New adult-only zone (available to book from 1st November 2024)

A collection of adult-only suites, located near the Serenity pool area, with added in-suite extras and resort privilages including:

- Dedicated Butler service offered within the heated pool adult-only zone

- Access to a Tiki Bar with F&B service and snacking (located on the beach next to the adult-only zone)

Whilst all the staff are very friendly and some (mainly the more senior staff) were very eager to help mostly the service was just off the pace. On the plus side the nutritionist and the baby club staff were excellent. To be improved; restaurant staffing at Annabelle’s and C-Beach club; slow to notice a need and to respond. The food at Annabelle’s lacked the variety one would expect and the food at the C-Beach club was sub standard, often cold and always under seasoned. If you’re thinking of going all inclusive you’ll save a huge amount of money and get a better experience at the Awali. Read less

He deserve the oscar for the best employee of the year! He is always looking out for the guests, doing a great job with a lot of ambition and a smile. He is aleays working and seeing all the details and work that needs to be done! Also we would like to thank Ashni our great guest manager and Kevin from the palmier restaurant. Our best experience overall we had at le chateau restaurant (not ogrill :) le chateau ;)) The food and the service personnel overall was exquisit. Especially Allan. Very nice dinner experience. Nitesh and Eddy from the bar done also a very great job! We will definitely come back again One recommendation to the hotel management: It would make sense to put up a dog and cat feeding station on the hotel grounds. The strays are there whether the tourists feed them or not. With a feeding station it can be prevented that the strays beg for food and it can be included into the kids program (learning about the need of castration and caring about the environment). The strays are a big problem on the island and some effort from the hotel would be great. Hotels in Greece do this as well and it doesn’t increase the population of strays on the hotel grounds but instead helps and supports the island and moreover is good marketing for the hotel. Very good week at Le Telfair! Staff/Facilities and accommodation great! The only negative is the price of the drinks, particularly wine - very expensive. We did comment on this to management.

We had a truly outstanding stay in every way. The resort is so amazing that you really don't want to leave to go explore the rest of this beautiful island. Service here is at such a high level -- they go very far to take care of you. MIchael of the activities center really went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our stay to the fullest. Upon check-in, we were assigned a personal concierge, Varshita, who made sure we were enjoying our stay and was always offering to help us book whatever was needed. We didn't golf, but the courses are so gorgeous just to look at and would have been fun to play at. On a tip from another guest, we had breakfast the the clubhouse for La Reserve course one morning, and that was really memorable for the views (and the food was fantastic, too!). The grounds, the pools, the beach, are all just gorgeous to relax and enjoy. They had wonderfully talented musicians each night the Cavendish, the central bar. We couldn't believe more guests didn't hang around, but we really appreciated the music. We did get a chance to try the steam/sauna/jacuzzi facilities and they were also great. The dining was very good. We liked the variety of restaurants, and ithe central breakfast buffet is delicious and varied, everything from English Breakfast, to crepes & waffles, to Mauritian or Indian specialities, and including a wide variety of fruits and pastries, of course. The onsite shell museum is also very interesting to look through. Our ocean-view suite was very spacious and comfortable. It was kept clean very nicely by the staff, and the bathroom was really nice and spacious. I'm out of superlatives trying to describe what a wonderful time we had here. Read less
