The hotel

It’s hard to return to everyday life after a stay at OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI: the very definition of luxury. Whatever villa you choose, it's entirely secluded, but still gives direct access to the beach or lagoon, putting you just a swim from one of South Malé Atoll’s healthiest house reefs and five shipwrecks. At your villa, every luxury awaits: an oversized L-shaped pool (you can swim from your bathroom, around your villa, to your terrace), semi-open rain showers, interactive TVs, even adjustable mood lighting. In fact, it will be impossible to holiday anywhere else after you’ve lazed on the daybeds enjoying cocktails at Ozar, dined with your feet in the sand at Sangu, woken early for yoga in the spa garden and sunk into the massage table in an overwater treatment room.

Where is it

In the South Malé Atoll, on the island of Bolifushi, surrounded by one of its healthiest house reefs, just 20-800 metres from five shipwrecks for diving. You’ll be welcomed on arrival in Malé and taken to the resort’s airport lounge where fresh coffee and homemade cookies await. Board a luxurious catamaran for a 20-minute scenic ride past tropical islands to your resort.

Ocean Pool Suites come with or without slide, and are freestanding in the lagoon. These 2-storey villas have a private infinity pool and sleep maximum 3 adults.

Sunrise Earth Pool Pavilion features two interconnected bedrooms – one master and one twin – each with its own bathroom and walk-in wardrobe and additional child-friendly facilities. Both bedrooms open onto a lovely outdoor terrace area overlooking a lush garden and pool, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Sunset Earth Pool Reserve are 2-storey beachfront villas with a private L-shaped pool, open balcony with seating area, open air bathtub and living room. Each bedroom has a walk-in closet, one with 1 king-size bed and one with twin beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Private Ocean Reserve with slide features a private infinity pool and deck, overwater hammocks, and a 23 metre water slide into the ocean from the second floor terrace. The master bedroom is located on the upper floor, with 1 king-size bed, with a second bedroom also featuring 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Vista Del Mar (International cuisine with Spanish inspiration, offering special weekly theme nights and lagoon views. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner). Sangu Beach (Middle-Eastern cuisine, served on the beach, open for dinner and all-day drinks). Tradition Saffron (traditional Indian Thali, 3-course pre-plated dinner). Origine* (Modern gastronomic experience, specialising in seafood, with a spectacular wine library, cigar selection, and other luxury beverages). Ozar (Main pool bar serving light bites and signature drinks). SOYI (Pan Asian restaurant).

Ocean Night on Friday's, featuring an expansive dinner spread complemented by a special selection of cocktails and wines, entertainment, games, live music, and a bartender’s show. Daily activity schedule.

Absolutely wonderful. No other words to describe the overall experience. It was fantastic. The food was incredible, the resort layout and amenities were brilliant, and the staff were top-notch - friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, and just an overall good vibe - especially our butler Yabo. Yabo was attentive, responsive, and went above and beyond to make our stay phenomenal. It was an absolute pleasure staying at the Ozen Reserve. That being said, there are some obvious notes of improvement that would move my 4-star rating to 5-star. Firstly, whilst the villa was incredible (the access to the sea and coral reef for snorkelling was breath-taking, wondrous sea life), however, it wasn’t built with the humidity in mind, every AC was condensing the air and leaking everywhere - we couldn’t even control the AC or turn it off to stop the leaking. That goes for the lighting system in general, the switches were either too complicated or weren’t working half the time to be useful, simpler light switches for the villa would go a long way. Secondly, moving around the island was a breeze thanks to Yabo and the electric buggies, however, the buggies themselves were quite unkept and dates, and it seemed like they weren’t properly built for the tropical weather, especially when the rain is heavy and windy. Another amenity that could use upgrading was the pool table in the Ozar bar. This was definitely dated, and while playable, the cues were not in the best shape, the pool table didn’t operate properly, and there was a severe lack of chalk for the cues. All the things mentioned above are minor and didn’t really distract from the overall experience (which was fantastic). Honestly an incredibly memorable trip and we will certainly be coming back. We were well looked after (constant restocking of the booze bar in the villa), the environment was mind-blowing, and the stay incredibly relaxing. I had the distinct pleasure of staying at Ozen Bolifushi for seven wonderful days. Every detail was perfect: from the accommodations in our over-water pool suite, to the attentive service, the food and beverage quality and spa experiences! I can’t say enough about the kind and thoughtful service we received! A special shout-out to our amazing Butler, Iboo. He was impeccable throughout our entire stay. Iboo thought of every detail, was there to make every aspect of our stay perfect. In addition to Iboo’s responsiveness and handling every detail of the day, he has an incredibly kind and thoughtful way about him. For instance, one afternoon as we were being transferred from our villa to dining or the pool area via his buggy, I dropped my phone and it flew out of the cart. Iboo stopped the buggy and ran out after it. Another day during a heavy rain, we were headed to breakfast, and one of his colleagues was walking toward the spa in the heavy rain. Iboo stopped and offered her a ride to join us, offering shelter from the downpour to make her travel more comfortable. It’s that sort of kindness and heartfelt generosity that transform an experience and leave a deep and lasting impression! I want to also compliment the chefs and food and beverage team. My travel companion has food allergies and prefers a more plain dining option such as grilled steak and masked potatoes, no seasoning. Even in the beautiful restaurants on property, featuring various international flavors, they were happy to accommodate her preferences, even when it required obtaining supplies from a separate kitchen. I’ve never seen the kind of thoughtfulness and professionalism as this team! We loved every single part of our stay, and every single staff member we came across. Thank you Ozen Bolifushi! Always there when we needed him and so kind and willing to talk and share his experience. We communicated easily with him through WhatsApp. Maldives was a dream come true. It was a far way to travel from the US, but worth every bit of it! Would recommend Ozen Reserve Bolifushi to anyone that had a desire to experience the Maldives and complete relaxation and service. The island is very beautiful and everyone is friendly. Our housekeeper Anvy is very patient. But I think the hotel's system of picking up tourists is unreasonable. First of all, our family arrived in Male on the evening of May 15th. We were supposed to pick us up on the island on the morning of May 16th, but the yacht picked us up in the afternoon, which wasted half a day's time. Secondly, we missed lunch on the first day on the island. On the day we left the hotel, we asked to check out at 11 o'clock, and we didn't provide free lunch. We stay for 4 nights and can only enjoy 3 lunches, which is very unreasonable for all-inclusive prices. Read less
