An honest review - Visit May/June 2025 This was our second visit to Meeru, having also visited in May/June 2024. We are a family of 4 with two children aged 8 and 6 years. Firstly - Thank you Meeru Team! Everything on the resort is well co-ordinated and the staff strive to offer the very best service to their guests. My husband suffered a medical emergency on our first full day. I called reception and within minutes a buggy had arrived to transport him to the medical clinic and the resort doctor had been called to attend the clinic. Within 30 minutes my husband was on a speedboat being transferred to Treetop Private Hospital in Male, where he received the best care. Obviously this was very stressful as I had to remain on the Island with the children, but Meeru had arranged for a rep from the travel agent to meet my husband at Male to transport and remain with him to support and assist him at the hospital. Meeru had immediately set up a point of contact (Zaik) at Meeru who was linked in with the hospital and the rep, who sent me regular updates on WhatsApp. Thank you Zaik! You made the whole experience easier to navigate, we are so grateful. When my husband was discharged Meeru arranged for his transfer back to the Island. Emergency plans are clearly in place, well rehearsed and effective. My only recommendation is that it would be beneficial for a sticker to be placed on the phones in the rooms so that guests know what number to dial in an emergency to contact reception. In a panic, I wasn’t sure what number to call. This is a minor point though and we are truly grateful for everything the resort did to get my husband to hospital quickly. The Island is beautiful and the beaches are out of this world. It’s just stunning. The food is amazing; fresh tasty and always lots of choice even for fussy eaters. The kids corner is a great idea. Despite a 2pm check-in, our room was ready upon arrival at 10:30am. This was most welcome having travelled for 20 hours with children. The transfer from the airport to the resort was seamless. Drinks are expensive so I would recommend the AIP, which we always opt for. The cocktails and milkshakes are amazing! It would be nice if there were some smoothies included in the AIP for the children and a wider variety of ice-creams/sweet treats at the snack bar, rather than a scoop in a cup. I’ve stayed at other resorts where you can help yourself to icecreams in cones via an ice cream machine - something like this would be a great addition at Meeru, particularly for the kids. My children were never bored, they adored the kids club, and the staff are great! The older kids room needs some work as a lot of the equipment was out of action. The staff; they are ALL amazing and work so hard. It is clear they are treated very well and looked after by management as this shines through. I’ve never before stayed at a resort where the staff are so friendly and can’t do enough to ensure guests are happy. I need to mention Astin at the Dhoni Bar - last year she formed a bond with my daughters and went out of her way to make them feel at ease as one is particularly shy. My children never forgot Astin and were excited to see her upon our return this year. Once again Astin gave my children lots of attention and even returned during her break to say goodbye to them on our last day! Once again there were tears to leave, but we hope one day to return. Thank you Astin! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and although slightly dated, are still good value for money. For anyone looking to visit - book the trip, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Meeru, we hope to return to your beautiful Island again one day. Emma, Colin, Layla and Isla Powell Read less

We won the all-inclusive accommodation package as prize in a fundraising raffle. What a win. From the time we arrived at Male Velanta Airport for the boat trip over to the island (1 hour), until the return boat trip 5 days later, we were treated exceptionally well. The island staff are amazing and were always engaging and wanting to know about us and happy to tell us about themselves. The overwater bungalow was just a surreal experience. The main area is big, the bathroom just the same. There was a front deck to enjoy the sunrise and a back deck with a spa (jacuzzi). Walking down the front steps to go snorkelling with fish, rays, and gentle reef sharks, was a highlight. We did this every day. The island is relaxed, the food and drinks were always available and good quality. Staying on the eastern side of the island might be preferable. The wind and rain generally came from the west, and there is more sealife around the overwater bungalows. Prices are in USD and you might want to consider taking some extra to tip any of the staff who made an impression. We did this on our last day. You won't be disappointed. This is a very family friendly resort (with an adults only section in the north part of the island). Read less
