Where is it

Peaceful island location on the northern drop-off of South Male Atoll. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 25 minutes by speedboat.

102 Superior rooms and 16 Water Villas, all with choice ocean vistas, air conditioning, tea/coffee maker, telephone, hair dryer, mini fridge and safe. Superior Rooms are simple and tasteful, with a veranda opening right up onto the beach.


Full Board includes breakfast, lunch & dinner at the Main Restaurant (buffet). Beverages are not included with the meals.

Water Villas are spacious and warmly designed, set along the far end of the island, each with a jacuzzi bathtub, and a private balcony with infinite ocean views.

Nurse Sharks, eagle rays, white tip shark, black tip reef sharks, spinner dolphins and turtles all made appearances. Along with the huge array of fish that live on the corals. We did multiple trips with embudu and with the dive centre situated on the island. I have to recommend the shark and ray experience. Just WOW! Food was always plentiful. There’s always something you’ll find that you like. It’s certainly not geared to be lively. It’s a very small and quiet island. Never felt too overcrowded during our stay even though the island is small. Never had an issue finding a sun lounger. I didn’t feel a pressure to tip here either. Tips are greatly received but certainly not expected. It was my birthday during our stay and we enjoyed a private dining experience on the beach. It was so beautifully done and the service was exceptional. Embudu really do have a wonderful team of workers. They decorated my dining table with birthday wishes and I can’t even explain the hard work and effort that was put into decorating the bed with more birthday wishes. I was given a wonderful birthday cake and selection of fresh fruits. Water is $3 a large bottle which I think is very reasonable. We were given two bottles of water free each day which we rarely finished anyway. This resort was really wonderful. It’s not luxury but it’s warm and welcoming and very comfortable. Embudu Village, what an absolute gem of an island…. We stayed for 10 nights from 9th May, the island is beautiful with crystal clear waters, white sands, lush trees with vibrant birds, lizards, bats, then underwater, quite possibly, the most beautiful reef I have ever seen. The experience of snorkelling with Octopus, Eagle Rays, Nurse Sharks, Stingrays, Reef Sharks, Turtles and about a million fish, in the stunning coral setting was simply breathtaking and I feel very privileged that they shared their home with me for so much of my time there. The food was varied and plenty of it, as were the drinks. Our beach bungalow was spacious & comfortable. The Diverland guys are great, highly recommend Stingray City. The back massage at Serena Spa was incredibly relaxing. Canoes or water boards to hire. We were lucky enough to stay in a Water Bungalow, with a four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and shower. A glass boʻttom floor in the sitting area where you could watch the fish and a decking area with cozy sunbed and armchairs. We also stayed in a beach bungalow that literally stepped out to the beach, with sun loungers and umbrellas. The superior bungalow had a big bed, a walk in shower and was big and spacious with ample wardrobe space. The Restaurant was excellent with different foods from all over the world that the chefs stood and cooked main dishes infront of you. From breakfast, lunch to dinner there was a wide variety everyday! This is where we want to personally thank Kamal Dangriyal for making our holiday that extra special! He pulled my chair out evertine I arrived! He advised us on what foods to try, poured our drinks. Gave us tips on everything we needed to know or ask regarding our stay. Nothing was a problem and he genuinely made us feel at home and looked after. He was kind, friendly and professional in his job. He is a big asset to Embudu Village. The bar staff were also amazing and always happy to see or help you. Will definitely be going back to this beautiful island. Read less
