The hotel

The adult-only Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa offers a truly serene atmosphere in idyllic island surrounds. Beach Villas and Water Villas are scattered around the island, allowing for peace and tranquility aplenty. Upgrade to a Overwater Villa with Swirl Pool and you’ll have your own private outdoor spa bathtub. Down at the beach is an oceanfront pool and well-being area, aptly named as you’ll feel very well indeed here. You can also spoil yourself to a treatment or two at the Spa Cenvaree, a blissful sanctuary offering Thai massage as well as ancient Ayurvedic treatments to banish any lingering cares. With the resort in such a great location there's a plethora of stunning scuba diving sites, amongst the Maldives’ most sought-after spots, reached within 20 minutes by dhoni. There’s also snorkelling and both non-motorised and motorised water sports to tempt you. Island dining is a treat at the Centara with several superb restaurants to choose from. Oceans Restaurant serves International, Asian and daily themed buffets while Al Khaimah features an authentic Bedouin tent with Middle Eastern-style grilled meats to feast on and Arabic delights. Alternatively, dine Italian style at La Brezza or on Thai fare at Suan Bua, two speciality restaurants that overlook the beachfront pool. Overwater Viu Bar is one of the highlights of the resort and deservedly so, its circular shape and oversized hammock seating affording unobstructed ocean views. There’s also a very popular pool bar to while away an hour or two, sipping on exotic cocktails.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Centara Ras Fushi and Spar Resort in the Maldives. What a fantastic place for a restful time. It is about a 30 minute sea taxi ride from Mali airport. From arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, who were all extremely friendly and helpful; from the staff on the front line to the workers brushing the beach etc, they all spoke when we passed them. We had a beach bungalow, which was lovely and serviced extremely well. It also had an outside jacuzzi bath which was a surprise and gave us a lovely relaxing jacuzzi bath after a hard day sunbathing and swimming. Our house boy, Montol was so friendly, we celebrated our wedding anniversary whilst there and came back to our room on the day to find he had decorated the bed with a heart shape of flowers and leaves; we didn’t want to remove it to go to bed in the night. There was also a bottle of cava and a cake with “ Happy Anniversary “, all very much appreciated and unexpected. We went on three snorkelling trips one of which I was nervous getting in the sea due to the water depth but was encouraged by the two lads, Ibraheim and Lilo, on the boat from Best Dives, one of whom swam with me throughout while I hung on to the life ring for confidence. I was so pleased I was able to do so as, apart from the colourful fish, he pointed out two turtles. The shark snorkelling was amazing. We swam amongst 6-8 foot gentle nurse sharks; with the added bonus of also seeing stingrays and spinner dolphins. The sea and the pools are so warm, they were like walking into a bath. At 5pm every evening at The View bar you can watch the black tip sharks being fed usually looked on by the Heron who was often around hoping for some tit bits himself. We had a 90-minute massage, which we highly recommend, so much so that we returned the following week for another. There are four restaurants to choose from to eat. Three of which were a-la-cart; an Italian, a Thai and an Arabic. The fourth being a buffet restaurant which served breakfast, lunch and evening menus. The food in each of them was delicious with good choice, the servers all friendly, Yaya and Naz to mention a few, sorry not able to remember the names of the others. The deserts were delicious and when I complimented them and asked if they were all made on site was introduced to the head pastry chef Tiron, who then made a desert especially for us , very much appreciated. We felt like royalty. On departure several staff waved our sea taxi off which was a nice touch and end to a very memorable lovely holiday.
