This was our first trip to the Maldives. Of all the resorts that are available to select in the Maldives, we chose Centara Mirage Lagoon. All we can say is WOW! After landing at Male, it was a 40 minutes speedboat ride to the resort. Upon arrival we were greeted by Shail. We arrived at 3pm, delayed by over 2 hours due to the flight. Shail asked if were hungry, we answered yes, he took us to Acqua (Italian restaurant) who were closing yet the staff generously remained open and the chef prepared meals which we greatly appreciated. We stayed in the overwater bungalow with a jacuzzi, with views of the ocean. Upon arrival to the room we had an insignia made on our bed with “Welcome to Centara Mirage”. This made us feel special. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and Shail organised another beautiful surprise, firstly with dinner that we had at Acqua, who prepared our table with a sign saying “Happy Birthday” and a birthday cake for her. Upon arrival to our room after dinner there was another insignia on our bed wishing her a happy birthday and a bottle of sparkling. The design, planning and build of the resort was exceptional. The food at the restaurants is perfectly prepared and very appetising. The buffet breakfast at the Sailhouse covers many different tastes and the chefs will cook you a selection of food also. Both the Sailhouse and Acqua have impressive menu options available for both lunch and dinner and both restaurants have great views of the ocean and lagoon. This resort is amazing, but what takes it to the next level is its STAFF, they are professional and sensational! They made us feel special, the staff go above and beyond in their service. Special mention goes to the following restaurant staff who always greeted us with a smile, courtesy and most important made us welcome made us part of their family (apologies if I have their names spelt wrong): • Acqua Italian Restaurant, Lai, Saeed, Sharzin and the chefs, Gey and Mahadi • The Sailhouse, International Restaurant, Alex, Xee, Ton and Cathy who also sings on certain nights in the restaurant as part of the entertainment. No resort is without its pool bar, the Dolphin Bar. A big thanks goes to John, Naz, Maayal and Sky who looked after us. They kept us well hydrated with water, they knew our favourite drinks and made great cocktails. Another big thanks goes to Patis and Ziri from SPA Cenvaree, they made my wife feel relaxed and as Patis said “a new wife”. We enjoyed the late afternoon/nightly events, e.g. the DJ by the pool and the sunset cocktail party on the bridge. We came as a couple and loved it and made so many new friends (that is the staff). As a family resort it is great for kids and families.
