Avoid this hotel , is a nightmare.Is advertised as a value and honestly it doesn’t have anything of value .

I actually stay at this hotel and let me tell you is huge , for a family with disability mobility is a hazard, the first room they give me it was a mess , with a horrible smell of mold , I check the room and the sink was full of mold and the curtains on the shower had mold and smell horrible. I call the front desk and ask me to go to the lobby to get other room , they take around 1 hr to move me to a different room, way to far from the original room so a lost of time there . So we made it to the 2nd room and as soon I walk to the room I noticed the mini fridge was open and it wasn’t cold , the room was super hot Apparently the A/C wasn’t working So call again the front desk and explained that things was not working. By that time it was already 11:pm so the manager call me and send the technician to check on the problem. The technician was so rude and tell me that everything was working fine That mini fridge was fix and he pretended to check the issue on the a/c but he didn’t do nothing. We have to sleep on underwear that night , it was pass midnight my kids where sleep already. Next morning I call early so they can fix the issue, and they do . Is not working at 100 % but at least is not hot . I didn’t call back but I’ll never come back to this hotel . I understand is a value hotel But honestly, for the price you can stay in a Hyatt , holiday inn , or dock side , surf side resort that is more new in case you want early access to the parks . This Loews resort cabana bay is horrible , old and I’m not talking about the retro style, the beds are horrible the whole place is dirty on the carpet in the rooms and halls , I had a horrible experience. Be aware of this hotel, trust me is not worth it, there’s more options for a better hotel than this one. Read less

We had a great stay at the Cabana Bay resort. Our experience from check in to check out was really positive, as was every aspect of our stay. The hotel has a retro feel but a very modern approach. The rooms are spacious & comfortable with all the basics you need. The food at the resort is good (and reasonably priced) and it’s a good location (right next door to volcano bay) with a 15 - 20 minute walk to universal studios & island of adventure. If you don’t fancy walking, the buses are very reliable & frequent. All in all we had a great stay & would stay again if we ever return. One word of warning, the Starbucks on site gets very busy in the mornings so if you need to be out early, either give yourself time to get a coffee or go elsewhere Read less

We have just returned from a week's holiday at cabana bay on a whole great stay although we only got our room cleaned once in 7 days ,housekeeping did knock one night at 6pm but we were in room and getting showered we were out the room everyday by 6.50am plenty of time through the day for the room to be cleaned as it had always been done on our 2 previous stays we asked reception if we could get our room cleaned and they put note on to be cleaned before 5pm it was done that day and that day only ,we were getting pool towels for the room ,making our own beds and going to reception to get coffee we were also bagging our own rubbish and leaving in corridor as were many others .The pools,were great and the lazy river lovely and warm,we also enjoyed volcano bay great being so close.We used the hideaway bar lots Adam was very friendly and really looked after us, our son had lots of food from the snack area at the hideaway which he loved.we put money on our room key when we checked in and unfortunately they hadn't put it on all 3 cards so we had to go back to reception to sort it out as our son had gone to buy a pizza at bayliner diner and told no funds on card which he was embarrassed about.Over all we still love Cabana bay but housekeeping was definitely an issue . This was our second stay at Cabana Bay (April 2017 and May 2025) and we have loved both stays. I’m really surprised by the amount of recent negative reviews, we found our stay was brilliant. The hotel looks great, has a fun theme, the atmosphere was so good every day. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly, polite, welcoming. We loved the pool area and lazy river, it was so relaxing. We used the diner for lots of snacks and we loved the onsite Starbucks. The walk to and from Citywalk/the parks is such a big perk, it’s a pretty walk and definitely beats sitting on a busy bus. We walked to and from the parks every single day with no issue. Our room was so comfortable, perfectly clean. I honestly don’t understand why everyone seems to be complaining about only having the rooms serviced every other day, this is well within reason and was exactly the same practice as our hotel at Disney the week before. If you are out having fun every day, how much housekeeping can your room possibly need! We said during our stay that we would never stay anywhere else at Universal but Cabana. We loved it so much. Cabana Bay is ok. Worth considering but Universal needs to improve its standards.

The positives: The hotel is well placed with good access to Universal parks, especially Volcano Bay. There are 2 good sized pools, with plenty of facilities available, providing food and drinks, lots of loungers and towels available. The rooms are clean and sufficient for holidays in which parks are the focus. There is a fridge in the room, a good sized TV, and baths are available on request. The parks can be accessed by a lovely garden path walk, frequent buses, and a boat via Sapphire Falls nearby. The Luggage Service works especially well. The negatives from my recent stay: Standards in certainly areas are not as high as in past visits. Examples: The room is only serviced every other day. There are no individual shampoo or body wash bottles. Instead it’s a large bottle on the wall, which is completely impractical if you are in the bath as it is too high to reach. The Malt Shoppe was a far better option when it was opened for breakfast. Now it opens at 12:00. One of the smoothies is even called Morning Berry, but now you can’t buy it in the morning. That is genius, and clearly a decision by committee. The room was too hot as the air con was set too high. The room maid refused to assist in reducing the temperature, so I had to call reception who arranged for maintenance to fix the problem. Several days later the maid reset it to the higher level which once again ensured the room was too hot in a heatwave, and I had to rearrange for maintenance to attend to fix the problem. There are very few if any plastic cups near the Freestyle drinks machines, so it is impossible to get a cup of cold water when returning to the hotel at the end of the evening. The standard of security of the hotel has dropped since the first few years. Many of the gates that access the pool are not kept locked, and the gates which access the hotel from the car park and the garden path to Citywalk are left open. Some of the signs, especially around the bus pick up points are showing wear and tear, and not well maintained. Read less
