Be prepared for extremely long check in as they harass you for tours and purchases. There is a major disconnect with all departments so if you have an issue they will be rude and it most likely will not be handled.

Complex is huge so you need to drive or catch there free bus to get around the villages. Lots of things to do like tennis, golf etc however its not free. The downside that was really disappointing was to use the lazy river and having to pay 10 dollars for a ring per day. I think that is morally wrong when you are paying daily resort fees. This should be included. Online it states the lazy river is free to use and no mention of chargeable rings. I then decided to buy my own ring which was exactly the same as theres and was told to remove it. They then charge you 12 dollars a day to use a locker. I will be looking to come again next year but due to the chargeable rings i will look at other hotels instead as this was disappointing for me. You need deep pockets to stay here! Read less

Actually, even if I did come back without kids, I still wouldn’t stay in East village, it’s way out of the way and no amenities. However the night rise condos (villas) are beautiful, well appointed, and seemed to be just renovated. just be really careful when you book that you get the correct village. And even then, look to see where the closest pool is or you’ll be walking a long way! Excellent location if you’re going to Disney, about a 15 minute drive. Read less

March 2024 - We were so excited to return back to Orange Lake. My family have been RCI owners at Orange Lake since the early 90s. It has become a place that I have very strong feelings toward so I was very much looking forward to bringing my own family there. I haven't visited in almost 10 years after going almost every year as a kid. When there wasn't an opening for the week we were traveling through RCI, I decided to supplement our trip with two nights at Orange Lake. When I first made the reservation, I made sure to put in a request for a crib for our almost 2 year old. The day before we checked in, I called to confirm our reservation as well as our request. When I asked if the crib would be in the room when we arrived (since we would be arriving very late at night) I was told that I would have to contact housekeeping when I arrived but that it would be brought shortly after our arrival. We arrived at Orange Lake after 11pm; everyone was tired from a long day at the parks and just looking to get some much needed rest. When I went to the front desk, I asked about the crib. I was told that there was "absolutely no way" I would receive one that night because of the time. This was unacceptable. I searched for a store that would be open to buy a pack & play as a last resort but since it was so late, nothing was open. The manager on duty was able to then confirm that he would personally get us one but that they were not sure of their inventory but the likelihood of having one ready was very slim. We resorted to letting the baby sleep in the bed with me while my husband took the pullout couch. The only alternative we were offered by management was to find another place to stay and we would be refunded for our reservation. Our child has never slept in a "big bed" so it was a night filled with a lot of waking up and anxiety surrounding our concern for if she would roll too far and fall out. I resorted to building walls to keep her contained. The next morning, we ran into the housekeeper who took our room number and said she would do her best to get us a crib before nap time. Fortunately she was able to accomplish this and we were very grateful. This whole experience was very inconvenient and makes me wonder why we even put a request in for a crib if it can't be honored until check-in anyway. I'm very disappointed in this whole thing. Additionally, calling the unit we stayed in a 1-bedroom is unfortunate advertising. While the bed area was separated from the living area, the door felt like a closet door and you could hear any and all noise from the living area. Additionally there was almost no room to put the crib in the bedroom area and the dresser was mounted to the wall (understandably) but we inevitably had to push the crib in through the bathroom for it to comfortably fit in the bedroom area. While I will still hold Orange Lake near my heart, I do not think I would pay out of pocket again to stay here, only as a guest of the owners. This was too much frustration at the end of a fantastic trip. I hope there is something that can be done to help families traveling with small children in the future so that no one else has to deal with this headache. Read less
