I can't say enough about this hotel! From the moment we checked in until we left, our entire stay was full of excellent customer service, delicious food and drinks and plenty of ways to enjoy the Tampa area. The hotel is right along the Riverwalk with easy access in any direction to entertainment districts, restaurants, bars and recreation. There's also a street car station right outside the front door and water taxis out the back. During our stay we sampled some drinks at Lona Restaurant and had breakfast at the restaurant on site. It was a little cold and windy during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor seating or pool area, but both areas looked inviting and we'll definitely give them both a try if we return. There is a $30/night resort fee added to your stay. This is explained upon checking and it is easy to recoup that fee by dining onsite, enjoying the wine/beer tastings and using the water taxi service (Just be sure to get your free pass at the front desk). I highly recommend this property to those looking for a convenient place if you are in town for a hockey game, departing on a cruise or just looking for a weekend away. Read less

This hotel is a solid 4 star choice. Pros: Fantastic location to walk on riverwalk trail, dining options on riverwalk and free trolley transportation to Ybor City. This hotel is a solid 4 star choice. Pros: Fantastic location to walk on riverwalk trail, dining options on riverwalk and free trolley transportation to Ybor City. The 3rd floor pool was big and very well heated with a water view. One day a live musician played at the pool. There is a bar at pool. A Publix grocery store is in walking distance to purchase food and beverages. Resort fee includes daily water taxi fir 2 people and drinks at JW Marriott. Cleaning service is very good and there was plenty of friendly staff to assist. We didn't have a car and could get to all our activities by walking or taking Uber. Airport is only 30 min away. Hotel caters to conventions and handles the convention groups well along with vacationers. Cons: Rooms are average size with not a lot of room for luggage. Ask for a free upgrade for a balcony room. There is a $30 food/beverage credit which isn't a good ivalue, considering that the food and drink prices at all their restaurants are very expensive. We enjoyed visiting the following attractions in Tampa and Sarasota: Dining: Acropolis Restaurant in Ybor City with good food and belly dancer entertainment. Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City with flamenco show. Lona Mexican Restaurant at hotel, Columbia Cafe on River Walk. River Terrace restaurant at hotel. We ordered off the menu and could split a breakfast entree, since the entrees are large. Museums: Henry Plant Museum (free on Saturdays), Tampa Museum of Art (free for college students with id), Tampa History Center. Water Taxi: Get free passes at hotel and enjoy the ride up and down the river with commentary. Water Taxi is located on Riverwalk close to hotel. Rental Car: We rented a car at the Budget agency located at Embassy Suites Hotel across the street. We drove an hour to Sarasota to visit the amazing Ringling Brothers Museum and estate. We spent 5 hours there. We took the Legacy Tour. Mondays are free to go to just the art museum. Tampa is lovely and worth visiting! Read less

There were plenty of chairs. 2 of the 3 days they had live music for a couple hours. The bar was really good and the bartenders were great. Drinks were pricey though. Expect to pay almost $20 per drink. The river walk ended at a neat outdoor place that had food trucks, a bar, and music. It was about a 10 minute walk. There was also a free trolley that would take you to Ybor. Maybe a 10 minute ride. Read less

Had a wonderful weekend stay at the Marriott in downtown Tampa. I dined at the restaurant outside both nights and the server, Noah, was phenomenal. We had a great conversation and many laughs and we really appreciated how well he took care of us both evenings. Great location and beautiful view from the pool!

My go to Tampa hotel and it does not disappoint. This visit we stayed in both a king suite for one night and moved to a larger queen room for the remaining two nights. The King suite was nice but not worth the added fee for us, there was no kitchen or microwave (there was a small refrigerator) and my daughter said the sofa bed was very uncomfortable, hence the move. LOVED the larger queen room, it was a corner room with a balcony that over looked the river/convention center. Being a corner room, there was an additional window with a view and it let lots of natural light in. Hotel has an amazing roof top pool with bar, and on weekends live music. Perfect spot to relax and soak in the sun. We were surprised one evening to return to the hotel to a dueling piano performance in the lobby, it was amazing and hopefully something the hotel offers again. Elite lounge had a nice selection of breakfast items and evening desserts. Did not go for dinner snacks and lounge was not open during the weekends so only got to enjoy it one day. As an elite member you do get some daily perks as part of the resort fee, bike rentals, daily pirate water taxi ride, liquor tastings, yoga.... We took the water taxi to Armature works and walked back to the hotel. Nice boat ride there with some fun Tampa facts and enjoyable walk back to the hotel. Valet was $50/day, we decided to self park at Pam Lorio garage, a less than 5 minute walk and $15 a day. Front desk staff great! Trolley stop right outside door takes you to Ybor city. Publix grocery 5 minute walk, this Publix has a wine bar, smoothies, acai bowls, and fancy coffees. Amalie Arena is across the street (Let's go Lightning!) If you are looking for a centrally located hotel with all the perks this is your place to go! I'm looking forward to my next visit!! Read less
