The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota

Sarasota/Bradenton, Sarasota

Star rating

The hotel

The VIP vibe at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota comes from indulgences like its bay-side location, its palm-dappled pool, and its celeb-worthy dining venues. Overlooking Sarasota Bay, you can watch the water as you laze by the chic outdoor pool and whirlpool, and as you tuck into coastal cuisine, cocktails, and craft beers at Jack Dusty. Venture across the John Ringling Causeway to Lido Key, where you'll find the hotels beach club, in the form of a tiki bar, alongside seaside-styled Ridley’s Porch restaurant, right on the soft sands (you may even get to enjoy it from your private balcony, as some have marina views). The luminary luxuries continue back at the hotel with opulent spa treatments - in a newly renovated spa might we add - and access to the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

Sarasota has so many wonderful dining options and this hotel is perfectly located for enjoying all of them! Best of all is the service. I’ve stayed at many Ritz Carltons but the staff here exceeds the rest! Special shoutout this trip to Chase on the beach and David working the valet at the beach club. Both exemplify everything the Ritz stands for and made our vacation extra special! We’ll be back, again and again!! Read less

We had a lovely Spring Break experience with our family at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota. The room was clean and spacious, even with the use of a roller bed to accommodate 3 kids. We had Club Lounge access with our room and it was INCREDIBLE! Ben, the lead Concierge there was incredibly helpful and wonderful to talk to. All of the staff treated us like family, even getting down to learning each of our kid’s names and food preferences! ❤️ The boys enjoyed the gym, the kids spent plenty of time in the heated outdoor pool and we ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Beach Club!! Even though it’s about a 10min drive from the hotel, you get the 5 star, exclusive vibe the second you pull in with staff awaiting to valet your car and the attentive service at the pool with foods and drink and shade whenever you need it. I also have to compliment the amazing locker rooms at the Beach Club to change in or out of your suit including super clean bathrooms and showers. The whole vibe was super luxurious and provided a much needed haven to decompress from a busy winter/spring! We cannot wait to go back and thank the Ritz Carlton Sarasota for such lovely and memorable Spring Break! ❤️ Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Mostly good - some room for improvement

The good. The staff! Professional and hospitable. The junior suite was in good condition and very clean (other than a wormy-thing that got in); I did not notice the physical problems that others did. The good. The staff! Professional and hospitable. The junior suite was in good condition and very clean (other than a wormy-thing that got in); I did not notice the physical problems that others did. The room was very quiet; no constantly barking dog like last time. The food was mainly good, not great (11 meals over 5 days), but the service was fast and the portions were large. Beach club was great, especially beach, which was not crowded despite the hotel being full. Folks that worked at the beach were very nice. This was our third visit. Areas for improvement: 1. At more than $1000 a night, turndown should have been easy, but was a big miss. Who wants to come back to a room after dinner and find overflowing garbage cans, wet towels and dirty plates? Called for turndown each night before we left for dinner. Night one, fine. Night two, nothing, standing order for 7 pm entered in computer. Night three, fine. Night four - called before dinner, left for dinner and found the tag saying they tried to do turndown at 5 pm (does anyone want it at 5?), so we stopped by the front desk to confirm (making that the THIRD request) and the room was skipped (reason given - the housekeeper walked in, saw that I took off the 'we missed you sign' and put it on desk, so she left). Stopped by the front desk to follow up, was told a manager would call. Never did. 2. A complicated invoice was 100% correct, until we checked out, and then two mistakes in the hotel's favor (a scam?). After two calls and 11 days, still no corrected invoice, although the credit was processed back to my credit card days ago. If I needed to submit this invoice for reimbursement, calling three times would really bother me. 3. Electrical outlet situation was poor, creating a charger left behind the bed. We immediately reported it and was told we would get a call back - never happened. 4. The bed linens for a good hotel were not good. Blanket was a thin thing stuck between two sheet, pillows were flat and old. Nothing about the bed said 'luxury'. Bath towels were fine. 5. Two shuttle drivers left hotel guests, saying they were full (they weren't). Drivers never turned around to search for empty seats - just sped away leaving seniors in the hot sun to wait an hour. One driver drove way too fast with a full bus of children not in car seats. If the beach club is full, get to shuttle early at peak times. 6. Trying to use Marriott Titanium benefits with an AmEx reservation was more difficult than it should be, and more difficult than last visit. We were given the wrong information. Thanks to Mike from Engineering for helping us set up our Roku (you need the TV remote) and for the birthday surprise. Very sweet. Read less

This hotel is a great stay! Sarasota is also a lot of fun and is a great family destination. The beach club is very fun and getting a cabana is worth it. I also recommend going for a club-level room. All in all a great stay and would absolutely go again.
