What a beautiful hotel and amazing service. I was at the beach with a friend and we had a lovely day. The beach server Dax was amazing and took good care of us! We enjoyed the Pelican hotel. Also Frank was great, he picked a good spot for us at the beach.

Dinner our first night at Pelican Beach Resort was great. The fresh catch of the day—red snapper—was exactly that. And sitting outside right on the beach was spectacular. And Matthew’s service was wonderful. Our vacation is off to a wonderful start.

I had a facial with Susan at the Pelican Grand Spa. It was perhaps the best facial I’ve had in my many years! Susan was excellent, and I recommend her highly and gladly to anyone. In fact, I encourage anyone to try a facial with her! She is professional and her touch is magical.

I’ve stayed at the Pelican four times over the past year for work trips. I love the beachside location and the restaurant Ocean2000. However, I’m planning to start staying somewhere else because there are too many irritants. 1) They add on a 22% tip to the restaurant itemized bills, but then bring you the generic credit card receipt to sign that doesn’t show the fee — but with a regular tip line. That’s borderline fraudulent. 2) They charge 4-star rates for the rooms yet won’t let you lower the room temperature below 70 degrees; you have to complain, then they say they have to submit a ticket to a third party to allow you to adjust the temperature in your room. What? 3) The elevators have had the same “new elevators coming soon” signs for a full year. Probably longer. 4) Everything needs a new paint job, and some of the flooring is even coming up in one of the rooms I stayed in. 5) There’s no loyalty program, and repeat guests are always asked “have you stayed here before”? 6) The valet and resort fees are ridiculous. The Pelican has a great location, but if they don’t fix things that irritate high-spenders, they’re going to go downhill vs the other resorts on the beach. Read less

Frank went above and beyond to provide exceptional service to us. He was personable and clearly worked extremely hard. He remembered us each day and quickly provided us with chairs and an umbrella and table. Frank made the trip memorable. We were very thankful for him and missed him on his days off. We were disappointed with the cost of other parts of the resort like Ocean2000. The lobster crab cakes were priced extremely high for the very small size- other appetizers were high as well. $20 for two cones of gelato seems unreasonable, too. The room was clean and cozy. We overall had a good experience. Read less
