Yes this hotel is slightly old and dated, but it’s well maintained, and exudes an old world charm you can’t find much these days (and will have its share of fans). But the highlight has to be the staff - in particular the manager at the club lounge Kittipong (Kyu). I happened to be there on the day the lounge was being temporarily shifted due to the renovations, but he really went out of the way to make guests feel comfortable despite juggling many roles there. He was one of the friendliest bartenders I’ve seen - helping us choose drinks during the evening cocktail and they were delicious, helping us get coffee whenever we were there (to escape the heat and rain), remembering us over the course of the stay, and most importantly making my mom in particular feel like a valued guest. That in itself was more than i could ask for from any staff at any hotel. Read less

We had a high floor river view and it was great. The hotel has a boat shuttle to IconSiam, and it’s only 5 minutes to Chinatown. The Yacht club was a great spot to have drinks and watch the boats go by. We had a great meal in both the lobby restaurant and the Italian restaurant. The gym was also nice and pretty big for a hotel. I would stay again.

We had 3 nights in Bangkok following a cruise from Bali. The Sheraton is on the river and our room had a view across to the IconSiam Mall, indeed from what we could see I think all rooms have a view over the river, but some face more upstream and others downstream. We often found ourselves watching the many boats and ferries going up and down and in the evening watched all the brightly illuminated dinner river cruise ships going past. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and we had several light snack lunches around the bar area near reception, highly recommend the pizza, and with Happy Hour from 12:00 to 17:00 it’s tempting to extend your stay there. Our room was very nice, not that we spent much time in it as there so much to see in Bangkok. There was nothing really special about it, but it was comfortable and perfect for our 3 nights. There are 2 pools which were very welcoming on a sweltering hot afternoon, the garden pool is surrounded by trees and more sheltered than other more traditional swimming pool you find as you walk through to the pool deck. There’s a free shuttle boat across to the Mall every half hour which takes 5 minutes there but 20 minutes back as it goes to another pier down river before returning to the hotel. Alternatively you can get a local ferry for next to nothing, but you need small denomination change. Read less
