Very good experience. Nice pool, very positive pleasant atmosphere, cheerful and friendly staff ( I especially loved the great violin player in the lobby bar one evening - he is super)! Watch out for the kids at the ChoiceZ buffet - I witnessed a parent let their child put their hand in fruit trays, snack on the fruit and put it right back - I mentioned it to a staff member and he removed the entire tray of cut fruit asap - no questions asked and that was an excellent response! Hotel is probably close to needing update in some places ( you can see it was a high-end hotel at one point that got acquired - areas such as hallway carpets, paint on door frames, treating rust in tubs and re-seeding grassy areas etc. Only one disappointment in food options, but since there are other choices, it might not be a terrible one. Barefoot JerkZ claimed to have snapper fish but didn't - it was baked tilapia. The barbecue chicken there tasted like parboiled chicken and was palatable only when you squirted a ton of sauce on it (that everyone touches) like you would put catsup on a hot dog. I wish the chicken had been like true barbecue that you could enjoy without having to smother it in a sauce. I only say this was disappointing because it is the convenient place for a hot meal at odd times. Eat elsewhere! Bar staff was attentive and very responsive in all locations and able to serve up the majority of beachy bar type beverages that tasted exactly as you would expect. If beach is what you want you may want to take a day trip to a beach where you can walk out in the water on a bed of sand – there are a few nearby. This is a great location for relaxation but it is not a real beach location with soft sand - it is instead very rocky underfoot when you enter the water and doesn’t have the nice calm ocean water with mild waves to frolic in with bare feet. I would say one of the best things about this hotel in the AIR CONDITIONING; this is not a guarantee in Jamaica even if a hotel claims they have it. The room could get as low as 65 degrees if you need it to. This is a must in Jamaica to have good air conditioning in your room and not just in a few areas on property. I would definitely return! Had no hot water for the entirety of our visit , this really put a damper on the whole experience, but we still managed to get around it somehow. Had it not been for the hot water problem, my rating would be five stars. We came here on the invitation of my brother and sister in law who had been there prior and they said that they will never return.

Fermin (a.k.a. “The ferminator” made the experience exceptional with recreational experiences like water aerobics at the pool at noon to provide a workout to counteract the great food here. Fermentor provided experiences that kept you occupied as well as engaged while you are visiting. Beach/pool activities to help you relax and enjoy your visit here. Our experience at Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall was very average. Some of the staff were great and other staff seemed like they would rather be anywhere but there. We ended up spending most of our time at the pool on the Ziva side, as it was less crowded and the bar tenders were much more friendly. I didn't like that it felt like tipping was expected and if you didn't tip, service was much slower and less friendly. The beach and pool were great, but they could use more umbrellas around. I was impressed with the food at all of the restaurants (except Petit Pariz, everything we had there was meh) and the drinks were delicious. The Zilara buildings/rooms are a bit outdated and it looks like more effort is put into upkeeping the Ziva side. Overall, it wasn't a bad trip but there was nothing about this resort that made it stand out or feel like a special vacation. Read less
