This hotel has a lovely beachfront setting with a small coved area ideal for snorkelling. There is a smallish pool with a swim up bar and we found that we could easily get loungers at either although we personally preferred the beach. The food was good, plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner in Reef, Collins on the beach did really good burgers, hot dogs, fried fish and macaroni pie and there were two speciality restaurants, Umi and Sizzle. Umi was Asian inspired and was amazing, the Dragon Rolls were so tasty. Sizzle is a steakhouse but we found it very hot in there to the point of being uncomfortable and the staff were not particularly attentive. We had a sea view room which was very nice and was at the end of the hotel overlooking the trees. These were an early morning haunt for the green monkeys and we took some great photos of them playing. The room itself was clean and tidy with plenty of hanging space although did lack usable sockets and the pillows were really uncomfortable and lumpy. We also found it was missing the little extra touches such as slippers, hairdryer and snacks. The fridge can be stocked with beer and soft drinks but you do have to ask for this otherwise you only get water. The other hotel we have stayed at in Barbados had small bottles of vodka, gin and rum in which we did miss as we enjoy a drink whilst getting ready for dinner. The Facebook group for the hotel is good for finding out information and as long as you are positive about the hotel. If you have any slight negative comments you are attacked for having an opinion. The groups of returning guests who were there when we were constantly bragged about what the hotel had gifted them upon arrival and overtook the beach bar in an evening. This we personally found quite distasteful and because of this we would probably not stay here again. Read less

They really do make Sugar Bay very special. We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea. Plenty big enough for the two of us. Our balcony was a really good size. The food at the resort was very high standard. We had our lunches at Colin’s Beach Bar which we loved. The food in the main restaurant had something for everyone and plenty of it. We went to Umi twice which we both really enjoyed. We didn’t use the pool, we laid on the gorgeous beach. We were always able to find sun beds and parasol, which the staff kindly brought over to you. I must admit before going I read a few reviews which made me worry a little. Honestly I had nothing to worry about. Bajan people are the friendliest most welcoming people I have ever met. Thank you, we had an amazing time. Read less

10 nights at Sugarbay was fantastic. A brief roundup of the trip starting with the good… so many of the staff are great to have banter with and go out of their way to speak to you each day as well as being so accommodating. The food was flawless and of a very high standard each and every mealtime. The buffet wasn’t too big like you get in some resorts, meaning that what they deliver is incredible. The drinks on offer are equally amazing and you’re never waiting too long. The rooms were very well looked after too and by the time you got back to your room late afternoon, they were cleaned with fresh towels. The slight negatives - the pool sun loungers were a big issue for us. Even though the hotel had a sign to say not to reserve them, people continuously, every day, placed towels and items on them from very early in the morning to reserve them. Personally, I can’t do this as it’s unfair, so we only got two days at the pool. The first day meant we had to move someone’s towel that hadn’t returned for half an hour and the second time meant we had to be at the pool, on the loungers from 6.30am. The hotel should really make a point of speaking to guests when they check in. The other issue is the toilets - your only option for the toilet when you are away from your room are is the use ones inside the hotel beside reception. This means that you have to walk inside if at the pool or the beach. There is one toilet at Colin’s bar if you’re down the other side. Just seems a bit odd how they don’t have any other options when outside. All in all, it was a fantastic holiday and a great hotel and would thoroughly recommend. Thank you 🙏 Read less

And the pool is very small and only 3 feet deep, so not a lot of water fun at all at the hotel. On the positive side, the food and choice was truly amazing, so fresh, and the quality of the meat and fish is second to none. Afternoon tea was a lovely extra each day at 4pm. Rooms are clean, however they don't seem to know about cleaning under things!!. The spa is lovely and the measures are fantastic in their profession. Best facial I've ever had. We had a great time, a little bit of rain but not enough to spoil the holiday. More of a family hotel than a couples I would say. It's a beautiful island and Will return. Hire a jeep and go see the island for yourself. Read less
