Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. From outside dining under the stars to traditional English afternoon tea, this hotel is ideal if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

Couldn’t fault the service and friendliness of the staff, the delicious food (great variety buffet breakfast), lunches (plus beach BBQ 2-3 times a week and snack menu including pizzas and other bits to order off) and dinners (mix of buffets and sit down meals), lots of fresh local cuisine. Mango Bay is located perfectly for exploring the island, with a yellow bus stop right outside (you could hop on one of these to Speightstown or Bridgtown or Oistins, €3٫50 BDS a trip and can be lively!). Our room was spotless and cleaned every day, we were in room 2 which is the separate building around the back of the restaurant. Lots of lovely toiletries and robes included too. We recommend using all the inclusive water sports like water skiing (we didn’t) and kayaking (excellent!) and we also paid for the Oistins Fish Fry excursion which was worth it for the guaranteed travel and stop at a nearby bar en route back. The rum tour trip was a little deceiving as we thought we were visiting the actual distillery and not the visitor centre (still had fun, but do check!) My (now) fiancé proposed on our 2nd night and wow the hotel were so lovely, they decorated our table with a personalised menu and left a bottle in our room. Felt truly spoilt! Thank you so much for a fabulous stay - we will definitely be back!!❤️ Read less

Great experience at Mango Bay hotel in a perfect location of Holetown! Everything from the great staff, service and resort itself was excellent. We had an ocean view room which was a great choice, everything was at high standard and things were very clean with housekeeping staff taking great care of everything. The buffet breakfast was perfect, food was fresh and a lot of selection. Dinner was also very good, nice selection on the menu and everything we had was delicious. We ate lunch off the resort a few days just because we’d by out exploring the area, there are a few beach bars if you get out walking the beach. Also a lot of eateries directly across the street from the hotel in the Limegrove Mall, which is a very nice trendy area to spend some time. The evening entertainment at the hotel was very good, talented singers all around. With the location of Mango Bay it’s just a few steps outside the resort to many bars if you want to venture out at night as well, Sunday night karaoke street party was fun! I would have to say this is a perfect area to stay in to experience Barbados, we will return to Mango Bay Holetown! Read less

Let’s start by saying this: Mango Bay was phenomenal. Stunning setting, friendly staff, unlimited drinks — basically paradise. But apparently, some guests came looking for a monastery, not a Caribbean resort. Yes, we were that wedding party. The ones having fun. Laughing. Celebrating love. Using the drinks cooler (which, shock horror, is… public), playing music (because silence is for the grave), and yes — drinking beer. All of it. If that offends you, might we suggest booking a library next time? As for “commandeering” the bar… it’s not exactly a military coup. It’s a bar. With drinks. For everyone. If your holiday was ruined by people enjoying themselves too loudly, maybe the issue isn’t with the resort — maybe it’s with your tolerance for joy. Big love to Isak, who handled things like a pro despite having to listen to complaints that sounded like they were written by a Victorian ghost. And to the couple who transferred hotels: you’re welcome — we made your vacation even more memorable. To sum up: Mango Bay is brilliant. But if your idea of excitement is a quiet game of Scrabble and sighing disapprovingly at anyone under 60 decibels, maybe pack some earplugs — or better yet, stay home. Mango Bay is a small, family-run resort of around 65 rooms, ideally located on Barbados’ tranquil west coast. The setting is truly stunning — a calm, west-facing bay with soft sand and glorious sunsets. Shops, bars, supermarkets, banks, and ATMs are all within walking distance, and the sea here is beautifully clear and free from the seaweed problems common on the Atlantic side. The resort has a laid-back, sociable atmosphere. Staff are genuinely wonderful — warm, friendly, and central to the resort’s charm. Special thanks to Damian for excellent beach service, Brittany at the bar, and Tone and Sabrina in the restaurant — all of whom made us feel incredibly welcome. you’ll naturally chat with most people during your stay, whether it’s on the beach, at the bar, or during meals. That creates a genuine sense of community, with conversations and friendships forming effortlessly. It’s welcoming without being forced, and feels like you’ve joined a small, easygoing beach club. The owners clearly support the local community, using local entertainers, vendors, and trusted tour providers. Rooms are clean but dated. Bathrooms are particularly tired — with broken sink surrounds, worn grouting, and no mirrors above the sink, which made shaving or applying makeup difficult. Our deluxe room had an old bath with a fixed shower, which could be difficult for guests with reduced mobility. The tap water is safe to drink and hot water was always available. If you are a pool person, this resort is likely NOT for you. The pool is extremely small with very limited sunbeds. The biggest drawback during our stay was the construction of a new hotel next door. We stayed in Room 426, which the door faced the site. Building work starts around 6:30 AM and continues throughout the day, with scaffolding and hammering dominating the soundscape — including on the beach, which feels like part of the building site. This severely impacted our ability to relax. It’s frustrating that this wasn’t disclosed by either the hotel or Virgin Holidays when we booked. Another letdown came toward the end of our stay, when a large, rowdy wedding party arrived. They completely disrupted the peaceful vibe: commandeering the drinks cooler, depleting the bar’s bottled beer stock, and blasting their own music through personal speakers. Their chanting and loud behaviour drove most guests away from the bar and social area (there is only one and nowhere else to go apart from your room). We raised this with the manager (Isak), who initially downplayed it, but after a second conversation, did ask them to tone it down — unfortunately, by then the damage was done. One couple even transferred to a sister hotel. The resort urgently needs a clear policy on acceptable behaviour to protect its welcoming, civilised atmosphere. Dining is all-inclusive but restricted — you must pre-book lunch and dinner slots daily at breakfast, and these can fill up. Bar snacks are available between 12–4 PM, but the menu is very limited and doesn’t change. Overall, the food was hit and miss — mostly dry chicken and fish. Breakfast was fine, though the fruit was surprisingly tinned, which was underwhelming for a tropical destination. Wi-Fi is poor throughout the resort, especially in rooms, and only suitable for basic messaging. The pool is very small, with limited loungers as previously explained and the sunbeds on the beach are old and sagging. They don’t recline flat, and while mattresses exist, staff are reluctant to provide them on days with rain in the forecast. That said, there’s no “sunbed wars” — plenty of loungers available without the early-morning scramble. On the plus side, the social atmosphere is excellent, particularly among returning guests — many of whom have been coming for years. This adds a sense of community that makes the resort feel almost like a private beach club. One absolute highlight was the boat trip with Lorenzo — a local operator who took us snorkelling over a shipwreck and swimming with turtles. Many offer this tour, but Lorenzo was outstanding: warm, personal, and great value. In summary: the location is amazing, the staff are a huge credit to the resort, and there’s a lovely, sociable vibe. But the construction noise, dated facilities, inconsistent food, and poor handling of disruptive guests need to be addressed. We’d consider returning — but only once the building work is finished and there’s more assurance that guest conduct will be properly managed. This place has something special, but it’s at risk of losing its charm if these issues go unresolved. Read less
Lovely Hotel

Visited for 2 days. Lovely Hotel with a great layout and on a great beach for snorkeling and swimming! They are building a Royalton Chic right next door which will greatly change the landscape of the beach, but I would still love to go back again! Food was very good, and hotel had great beach chairs with thick cushions. Very comfortable.
