The hotel

This lovely hotel sits on its own 100-acre peninsula at the southeast point of the island, just a 10-minute drive from Nelson's Dockyard with its historical buildings, museum and bars. There are two beaches, one for non-motorised water sports and the other for enjoying refreshing ocean breezes. The resort boasts five open-aired restaurants and one grill; most fêted of these is Piccolo Mondo, the resort's fine dining Mediterranean style restaurant in the village section, while the attractive waterside Docksider does a great Caribbean buffet each Thursday in alfresco surrounds. For a real treat, Royal Suites feature a king size bed with sunken living room, glass sliding doors to a private balcony and expansive bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and his and hers showers! A boardwalk also takes you from the suites right into the heart of Mamora Bay, perfect for strolling along in the moonlight! If plenty of home-from-home comforts appeal, choose a villa instead of a hotel room at St James's Club. Cheerful and bright, they feature warm Caribbean tones and terracotta tiles throughout. They're also very generous on space so are ideal for families and groups of friends.

My stay at the St. James's Club kicked off with a splash of excitement! The Pink Panther Historical Tour—led by our guide, the ever-smooth and hilarious Joy—was a ride to remember. Between the heat, the laughs, and the endless photo ops, we locked in some unforgettable memories. Later, I cooled things down with a laid-back "Sip and Sunset" session at Docksider. Vibes? Immaculate. Then came dinner at the oh-so-fancy Piccolo Mondo, where the service was top-tier and the food? Chef’s kiss. I went for the coconut shrimp and, let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion—highly recommend! The grand finale? Karaoke at the Jacaranda Lounge. I sang, I danced, I probably hit a few questionable notes—but it was a total blast and the perfect way to cap off the night. The next morning, I hit Rainbow Garden for breakfast. I’m all about that buffet life—nothing like having all your cravings on one plate. Only downside? Some uninvited feathered guests. Yep, the birds were bold and clearly thought they booked all-inclusive too. Wrapped things up with lunch at 11/11 Restaurant—top-notch service and food that hit the spot. A perfect ending to an unforgettable little getaway. Read less

Highly recommended and we'd do it again! Best tour guides ever and we even got some amazing mango souvenirs, thanks Yahira😉 Read less

We're home after a magical stay at St James Club & Villas. We were wonderfully upgraded on arrival, and our beach villa was clean, comfortable and enormous, with beautiful views over Mamora Bay. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the range and quality of food was good. Drinks were topped up constantly throughout dinner, and the live music at Docksider every night was fun. All pools were clean and never too busy that we couldn't get loungers. We took advantage of the water sports included - kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing, and these were always available when we popped along. Friendly guys in the water sports hut too. We didn't make use of the kids club as our children made friends at the pool, but this looks good for younger children. The sargassum seaweed made an appearance on Coco's Beach during our stay, but obviously the hotel can't control this. I will say that they had a team working every day to remove the seaweed, and while the smell wasn't pleasant while the seaweed was there, it lasted only a few days. We honestly can't fault anything about our stay! We'd recommend it in a heartbeat and hope to be able to return again soon. Read less

I could write a book on the many things wrong with this resort. Most of the staff is uncaring or indifferent to the guest. It is a miracle when you find a staff member that is willing to help you. They will yes you when you ask for something but then not deliver on their service. For exampled, asked for towels and never delivered that day. Asked for luggage to be stored in a secure location until check in, and it was never stored and just left in a public area. Staff will not help with carrying your luggage up and down stairs. Wake up calls requested on a daily basis and only two out of eight days was a call received. The room is not cleaned on a daily basis and sheets are not changed daily, even when you ask them to. There are many birds flying, eating, and pooping on your breakfast, as the breakfast room is full of annoying birds on a constant basis each and every day. The same goes with lunch at the beach. They have a major and disgusting problem with birds eating and pooping in your food. Birds will even fly into your room if the door or sliding door is open. The beach has tons of seaweed and the water is brown, not blue from the seaweed. The seaweed also stinks up the area, same smell as raw sewage. Only 2 bottles of water given for your entire stay and this is with an all inclusive package. Liquor given is at the lowest level. The resort claims many restaurants, however some are closed certain days, so you are limited. Some require reservations but must be made the same day, so if you are out touring, you cannot make them. The location of the property is far from everything and you cannot walk out to find something, as no stores are near the resort. You must take expensive taxi rides to go anywhere. This is just the start of my book as I can continue onward with things that are wrong here. My recommendation is to avoid this resort if possible. Read less
