Diamond Club come on definitely not as advertised

We decided to try Diamond Club with the advertised perks but from the very beginning at check in we realized it was not worth it. We went to the diamond club check in side and were sent to the lounge where 3 other couples were seated. We were told our room was not ready and waited 3 hours for our room. We were not offered any food or drinks from the lounge. The only option we had for dinner was the buffet restaurant because the others were booked (we were diamond club and should have been accommodated) . Also some restaurants are closed based on the resort capacity which should be mentioned restaurants open based on resort occupancy. Overall the restaurants were excellent with the exception of Hunter Steakhouse the steaks and brisket were tough and we had to wait 2 hours for our meal. Our butler Kyle was awesome and checked on us daily and made a point to find us and ask if we needed anything. Diamond Club members had access to private bar pool bar which had excellent bartender service but closed at 6 pm when the pool closed. Overall the staff was great and very friendly. Our other complaint was the private beach area which did not seem to be maintained as well as the other beach area. The sand was not as clean with big holes getting to the chair areas. In summary Royalton Chic is a fine resort but without the diamond club perks and additional cost of being a diamond club member made our visit average at best. Read less

The food is okay, the drinks are fair and the nightly entertainment was boring. On the brighter side the staff was delightful, kind, and very helpful. We recently stayed at Royalton CHIC Antigua in one of the Diamond Club bungalows, expecting a luxury experience based on the resort’s marketing and the $9000+ price tag. What we got instead was the most disorganized, disappointing, and frustrating trip we’ve ever taken. Upon arrival, we were left waiting in the Diamond Lounge for nearly two hours with no welcome, no drink, and no explanation. Our butler was a no-show, and we ultimately had to find our own room. Throughout the stay, service was apathetic or flat-out rude. We had to repeatedly ask for basic things like ice and drinks—which were rarely delivered. Meals were hit or miss. Pescari served some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had, and most breakfasts weren’t fit for a gas station. Hunter’s and Vespa were the only redeeming restaurants. Even then, service at The Haven was clearly discriminatory, with different treatment based on race. Our butlers were reactive, not proactive, and seemed indifferent to our requests. Excursions were somehow fully booked by the first day, and we were offered an unacceptable 7+ hour catamaran alternative. Communication was poor, service inconsistent, and any complaints were met with “we’ll get back to you,” which never happened. The bungalow was aesthetically nice but in disrepair: broken doors, thin walls, and a non-functional fridge we had to fix ourselves. The pool was dirty, filled with hair, and disturbingly, leftover adult toys from previous guests were never removed—until we did it ourselves. This resort is a masterclass in overpromising and underdelivering. For the price and branding, this was appalling. No luxury, no service, no care. I would not recommend Royalton CHIC Antigua to anyone and will be sharing this experience with others to help them avoid the same mistake. Very disappointed in this resort, definitely not 5 star quality! Housekeeping is horrible, food quality is nothing special, resort app is terrible! We made 3 separate reservations, all at different places, all were confirmed and each time we arrived the restaurant was closed! No notice, and all others were booked except for the buffet which was limited, and food was overcooked. Only a handful of the staff were friendly, the rest seemed very unhappy. The hallway always had people's dishes from room service, which usually sat for more than one day! Complaints were heard, but nothing was done to correct the issues. The resort has great possibilities, but is poorly managed. Read less

I eventually went back to reception, got my room number and when I arrived in the room, no towels. Within minutes a phone call. “How is your stay”, “it would be better if I had some towels”, to which the response was a promise of immediate towel delivery. Another 90 minutes later, still no towels. I make a call to reception, towels are on their way, so I’m told. I decide to go to the beach for a soak in the clear blue Caribbean Sea. I return to my room around an hour later, no towels. I make a call to reception. Towels are on their way. Another hour passes, no towels. I dress for the evening, having given up on the towels for now. I visit reception, and ask, politely, for towels to be delivered to my room. When I return that evening, no towels. I wake, I open my door, no towels. I make a visit to the concierge to lodge a complaint. The concierge apologises and books me into their steak restaurant, which I could have done myself using their app. I ask her to get back to me reference “TOWELGATE”, I never heard a thing. Overall, a lovely hotel, great staff, well, some of them. Would I recommend The Royalton Chic Antigua? No, I am afraid I wouldn’t. This is not a 5 star hotel. Spend your money elsewhere. Read less
