The hotel

Fancourt Hotel is definitely one of South Africa’s premier hotels. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, rooms are split between the 150 year old Manor House, which has been completely remodelled to create a boutique hotel and the main hotel, which effortlessly combines modern luxury with traditional elegance. A golf estate – Outeniqua and Montagu 18-hole Golf Courses are two of the finest you’ll encounter – a must for any enthusiast. Meanwhile, those intent on a spot of pampering are also in for a treat. Where is it

The town of George is in the middle of the Garden Route, halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Approximately a 4 hour 30-minute drive from Cape Town.

115 rooms. All of which are air-conditioned and have a balcony or patio, satellite TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar* and safe. Classic Rooms overlook the Outeniqua Mountains, gardens or the Montagu Golf Course, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults.
Luxury Rooms offer more space with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults. 

One-Bedroom Suites with separate living area, private patio or balcony and 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

4 dining venues; Henry Whites (fine-dining), la Cantina (Italian taste experience), Monets (French bistro), and The Club Lounge overlooking the 18th green of the Montagu golf course.

We were on a golf tour with 44 people, from arrival to departure service and hospitality was at a next level, as was the overall food experience. Will definitely be back.

I loved every bit of it. There is something for everyone. Be it golf or swimming. Child friendly. The variety of restaurants made it great destination. The quality of rooms is superb. The easy movements with either walking or golf carts, what an amazing experience!

Basic rooms facilities not checked. Water leaking from a light bulb 10.30pm. Light switches faulty. Poor maintenance and faulty plumbing made our stay uncomfortable. Coupled with dirty room mats. The spa jacuzzi taken over by men who stay 1h30min in it. Disappointed.

Hotel rooms at manor house were exceptional. Service was likewise great and over the top! two Golf courses were incredible - were aldo able to play prvt Links course ! food choices very good ! spa facilities are very nice. Pro shop well equipped.
