Stay at The Beacon

Nice and simple room for a quick business trip. Good value midweek. Very functional. Nice bedding and towels. Funny view of roof and other buildings. Check in staff were very helpful. Great location and walking distance to everything. Recommend a trip to Zabar's and Gray's Papaya.

We've been staying at Hotel Beacon annually 8 out of the last 10 years. We always look at other hotels before we book, but the value cannot be beat. We usually travel with our college aged sons & need the space of the family suites, one of the only hotels in Manhattan who has them. We live like locals. We've been staying at Hotel Beacon annually 8 out of the last 10 years. We always look at other hotels before we book, but the value cannot be beat. We usually travel with our college aged sons & need the space of the family suites, one of the only hotels in Manhattan who has them. We live like locals. Our first stop is always Trader Joe's to stock the kitchen for our stay. We buy her wine and my bourbon at Beacon Wines & Spirits next door. And take our daily strolls through Central Park. One of the best features of this hotel is its proximity to the 72nd St Subway station which has an express line to Times Square. You can be anywhere in the city in less than 20 minutes. And once you return from shopping or shows, you'll appreciate the relative tranquility of the Upper West Side as you aren't navigating mobs of people! A nice bonus this year was to be placed in a newly renovated room, it was outstanding. We're already looking forward to returning to our home away from home next year! Read less
Lovely Christmas break in NYC

Hotel Beacon was fabulous. So much space. Loved the separate bedroom and the fold out sofa. Little kitchenette to use. On site self serve laundry. Two TVs and so comfy. We had one issue with one of the two TVs and they came and fixed it the next day so all good. Great service. The self laundry on level 5 needed quarters (for detergent) and a credit card or phone for payment. But was easy and quick. We had a room facing the street/ Fairway Market. Close by was Fairway Market, CVS, Freddie & Peppers pizza, Levain Bakery and 72nd St Metro. Soooooo good for getting around. Central Park was 2 blocks away and so good. We ended up walking about 18000 steps a day so bring good shoes. Room was cleaned, beds remade, dishes cleaned, bathroom towels replaced every day. Such a godsend. Read less

We just returned after a 4 night stay with our Sunrise Tour group. It was an excellent hotel with maid service every day. We even ate left overs and she cleaned the dishes for us the next day. Everyone at the front desk was AMAZING and Jett called a cab for me and told the driver exactly where to drop me off. Great location with Fairway Market… Read more

Great location within walking distance of a subway on 72nd st. Hotel room desperately needs an upgrade, and cleaning needs to be addressed. We stayed for 5 nights and our room was not hoovered, bins were changed and towels replaced along with kitchen crockery but no other cleaning took place. Kitchen worktop was not wiped over, bathroom sink was not clean smears on bathroom mirror. The shower in our room could not be adjusted and it’s difficult to shower with the water pressure (full force), heater isn’t the best either pumping out hot air or cold air. Cracked bathroom and kitchen tiles, bath also looked marked and time to be replaced. No wardrobe just a cupboard with no light which also houses the ironing board and safe. Impossible to see the safe without a torch. Cupboard looked dark and dingy so lived out of our suitcases. Room is very dark with no ceiling lights only lamps. No restaurant or bar, so hotel doesn’t offer much other than a room and kitchen. Whilst some guests may welcome the addition of a kitchen this layout is similar to a bed sit or student accommodation. We would not return. Apart from a pleasing exterior with its Christmas lights the hotel loses its appeal once you step into the lobby lifts to the accommodation floors. Read less
