Image of the Tripadvisor rating Wonderful location, staff, and service but needs better window coverings & environmental rating

The location is terrific and the staff and service are outstanding. We visited on a cold weekend in January and our room temperate stayed in the mid-60s; we noted that the hotel had received D- and F ratings for environmental certification. We'd suggest thermal curtains in the rooms to moderate cold/heat. Otherwise, a wonderful stay.

What a hotel! We booked this hotel for our honeymoon visit in December 2024. We had spent a lot of time looking through hotel options when we booked last April, it was at a great price, especially considering it was December in NYC. We could not have been any happier with our decision. We had a bit of an issue before we arrived (it was our fault, not the hotels), but the welcome could not have been any warmer. Chanel checked us in, and was happy to help with every request we had. We had a basement room, with kitchenette, and outdoor space (we didn't use this space due to the weather at the time, but would be ideal during the spring/summer). The room was very spacious for a New York hotel, having stayed in New York hotels many times before it was very unexpected and generous in size. As we were on the basement we chose not to use the elevator, and just used the stairs to walk down the one level to our room. As we were staying for 14 nights we got to know the staff well, as they wished us well every morning heading out to explore the city, and welcomed us back in every evening. So much so that one of the male staff members - I'm sorry i didn't take his name, would have bottles of water at the ready for us, as we requested them most nights. The hotel was so handy for everything we needed, just a short walk for a subway, Time Square, and some amazing restaurants that were round the corner that we enjoyed. We will be back! Read less

My husband and I stayed at the Towneplace Suites Times Square NYC hotel for 20nights and our adult sons/daughter-in-law in another two separate rooms for 9nights. A considerable business transaction. During this time the elevator to our seventh floor accommodations was out of order for the majority of our stay. When our sons arrived after a 30hour long haul flight they had to carry up their baggage seven floors by themselves without any offer of assistance or apology for the situation. An isolated mechanical failure of the elevator is understandable and excused but regular issues , as personally experienced and other guest reviews attest to, is a serious safety concern and poor business practice. It would seem a contributing factor is its use or overuse by the hotel cleaning staff. It seems the hotel needs a separate service elevator. We brought this unacceptable issue to the attention of the reception staff who did provide excellent handling and resolution of the situation negotiating a reduced charge of our accomodations. Fair as this was it would have been more preferable to actually have a working elevator. If we had been aware of this regular elevator malfunction issue there were many, many other hotel options to choose in New York. Particularly skilful in assistance and exceptional communication was Chanel at the front desk and coworker Michael. It seemed unfair the front reception staff were unsupported by management. At only one time during our long stay did we encounter a manager who when confronted by irate guests responded “Well, how do you think I feel having to repeatedly call the elevator repairman!” Not quite a professional response. The hotel is well located for Broadway shows, has a subway station almost next door, a lovely diner around the corner plus a Food Emporium and Target the next block over. It has acceptable basic furnishings, a good kitchen set up though only a bar fridge and microwave oven. As far as NYC hotel rooms go it is slightly roomier than average. Cleaning staff do a great job though were inconsistent with timing. We’d see them or reception and request a clean ( or just fresh towels/ toilet paper at the least) but they seemed to operate on their own whim guessing they prioritised rooms with new guests arriving. Sadly, the constant elevator breakdown marred our stay and we would not recommend TownePlace Suites Times Square New York. Read less

ROACH MOTEL. This place is infested! Find anywhere else to stay! In addition to the unwelcome roommates they put us in a double/full size bed after we booked a King. They decided to tell us that it was the 3rd party that booked the wrong size bed. Yeah right. Beware

I rated this 1 star due to over charging otherwise it was great We arrived 23rd November till 2nd December , on our return I have just received my visa statement and the hotel took £350 approx $480 which is disgusting .. this was charged on the 23rd November. I booked this hotel on the trip advisor reviews being good although I have just googled the hotel on overcharging and this seems to be an occurrence. At no point was i informed of this and this has been charged without my knowledge. I have emailed the hotel , won’t hold my breathe on a reply . I will be contacting my bank regarding this ..
