Lovely little hotel in why I regard as a perfect location for accessing all parts of Manhattan. Very nice little bar, too, with excellent music (in, again, a very up-close, intimate setting). I’ve never stayed in a sub-par room there; every room has been just right.

I've stayed at dozens of hotels over the years in Manhattan, and The Refinery is definitely one I'll be returning to (this was our first time there). When you walk in the door it's immediately warm and inviting with a great scent throughout the lobby. A member of the staff always opened the front door when we were coming and going and the desk staff always acknowledged us when we went through the lobby. I was there with my wife and 18 year old daughter and we stayed in a double queen room which had a cool rustic vibe and was quite spacious for NYC. Jazz lounge right off the lobby is a great spot to relax with a drink... it's not your typical "lobby bar". Gabriel (manager) was very friendly, took good care of us and was a pleasure during our checkout, offered to help with transportation and sent us on our way with a gift. Location of the hotel is perfect as well. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will return. Read less

We had a great stay. The room was spacious and clean and the staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I booked through AmEx travel and there were nice associated extras at the hotel like a welcome bag and a food credit which we used at the hotel restaurant to have a fantastic breakfast.

Room was smart and plenty of space but the vent in our room made it sound like we were sleeping in the boiler room! Was woken in the night by the sound of the pipes and waterworks. Have never stayed in such a noisy room. The light controls by the bed didn’t work - we reported this and someone arrived with a screwdriver (!) but no further progress was made and nobody followed up on this. They didn’t work throughout our 4night stay. We asked for the annoying flashing green light in the room to be covered and this was done promptly for which we were grateful. Rooftop restaurant was great but apparently nothing to do with the hotel (this is what hotel reception staff told us) - they couldn’t even book a table for us from reception - told us to phone from our room or book online. Very odd and not particularly helpful. So, a comfy bed, good bathroom, good location but service was nothing special. Read less

The Refinery is always my first choice when I’m booking my stay in NYC. The rooms are always clean, the staff is super friendly and the rooms are big for the city. The restaurant and the rooftop bar are also outstanding!
