Lotte New York Palace

Midtown, New York

Virgin rating

The hotel

Railroad magnate Henry Villard's 19th-century mansions were combined with a sleek tower to create one of the city's best hotels. It's a place where the staff greet you as if they have known you all their lives, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is one of the best in Manhattan, right in the middle of Midtown, but hidden away in a gated courtyard. There's dining options suited to all at the Lotte New York Palace, from luxury brunch to baked goods, whatever you opt for you'll be in for a treat. Enjoy handmade cocktails in one of Manhattan's most popular bars, Trouble's Trust, or relax in 19th century-style surroundings in Rarities - either make for the perfect post-day-in-the-city tipples.

The elegance of the room makes you feel like royalty. And the food we had was superb. The hotel rooms are huge, beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are well appointed and spacious. We stayed on the 38th floor and had a nice view of NYC. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Simply fantastic. We'll be back on a regular basis. Read less

The Lotte is my favorite place to stay in NYC. Great location, staff, history and lovely Towers rooms. It is ideal for Broadway shows, shopping and dining. Love that it offers so much without the fray and noise of Times Square. They offer a house Maybach car if you are staying in the Towers.

Lack of service or attention to detail… something they have always had. We have visited the Lotte multiple times over the years and always loved staying here. This time we booked and did not request a view of the cathedral, not expecting to have a totally different room. From the mattresses, to the room size the experience was just different. When we checked in, we went to our room to find the smallest bathroom in the world, hard tiny mattresses and no closet room. We went back to the front desk to see if we could get another room and we were told we could switch to a king but would be charged $375 more per night. We then realized we were in a ADA room and was told that is what “we requested”! When we said we had not requested it, they then said it wasn’t an ADA room. The bathroom had a roll in shower, only one sink with no countertop so we knew what it really was. I then asked to speak to a manager who in turn said she would try finding us a room and would contact us. For 6 nights, not a single person reached out. We were stuck in this tiny uncomfortable room and no one cared. My son and I had just stayed there the month before so we knew the rooms quite well. This was our sixth time staying, so clearly we loved what we had experienced before. After we checked out we sent a personal review with our complaints and we received an email stating someone would be reaching out. Again, to make things worse, it has been a full month and not a single person has reached out. I even followed up multiple times to only be ghosted. We loved staying at the Lotte when we visited the city, the rooms were perfect and the staff were always so kind and helpful. This trip changed it all. We won’t be back. Better service and rooms all over this city at this price point. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating I need for an update and renovation!

Jan 22, 2025 evafrancoportugal Lisbon, Portugal

Great pillows, but the beds need an update on the mattress!! No seating at the lobby level, only the small lounge in from of Pomme Palais. More seating in need in front of the stairs, more seating on level 2. Carpets inside the rooms are old. Toilets should more modern, shower curtains? Showers must be more modern and new.
