The Barclay first opened its doors in 1926 under the aegis of the Vanderbilt family, quickly achieving a reputation as a hotel of distinction and exclusivity. Bette Davis, Marlon Brando and other celebrities have enjoyed its brand of hospitality in the past, now it's your turn! The hotel manages to combine old-world glamour with modern 21st-century functionality. Guests can enjoy an elegant residential design and state-of-the-art room facilities. There is also a health club for you to take advantage of. The Gin Parlour, with its club-like setting, is a great place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink before heading to one of the many restaurants and nightspots in the local vicinity.

My feedback on a very disappointing stay.

We were in room 920, and for 3 consecutive nights after midnight the people in the adjoining room 921 would arrive and make so much noise that I had to bang on the adjoining door to make them shut up. I also complained to the front desk each night that this happened and nothing seemed to happen, other than my banging on the door seemed to help quieten their room Also I complained to the front desk each day that for the outrageous room rate that I paid, that there should be at least 2+ bottles of still water provided, upon which I was told that there was bottled still water in the mini-bar. I then said that the mini-bar was locked and was told that it would be remotely opened for me which also never happened. A very disappointing experience and it’s only the provenance of the hotel which gives it the title of “Intercontinental”…it’s by far the worst Intercontinental that I’ve ever stayed at, and will never stay at the Barclay again. Fantastic hotel and services Front Desk, Bell Staff, restaurant Bar and Housekeeping. We had 4 rooms and we all enjoyed our experience there. Great location. Walking distance to everywhere. Great views from the top rooms of Chrysler building and the city. We look forward to be back soon.

My wife and I came back to New York City and the Intercontinental to celebrate our anniversary here and had a wonderful trip— Sophy at the front desk in particular made us feel so welcome! The room we had was spectacular, and the location is perfect.

The Barclay is a lovely older hotel - the location is convenient with a Starbucks around the corner and many solid options for dining and shopping. I stayed here for 3 nights while in town for a conference. The room had traditional decor with a comfy bed and well appointed but small bathroom. I was upgraded to a corner room which had an abundance of natural light that I enjoyed. The service overall was excellent. The only negative was a cheese plate that I ordered from Room service - a very sparse plate with grapes that were not the best. However, I do recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again. Loved the location!

NYC in the winter was magical, and the Barclay was the best location for our adventure. Nice hotel and felt it was the perfect spot! Staff was courteous and helpful. Hotel was clean. Good size bathroom and a good size closet. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
