Arrived before check in time. Caitlin was so helpful and pleasant. Found a room that was available in a great part of the resort. Lovely start to our vacation. The room was clean and while at the resort staff were friendly and quick to offer assistance if needed.

Overall, the resort has a lot of amenities and facilities to make for a great vacation. If you are lucky enough to travel when there is not a conference going on, it’s probably a great choice and we really enjoyed it on our first day. However, our second day into our vacation, 10000 conference people arrived really ruined the peaceful, relaxing Hawaiian vibe by creating a lot of congestion throughout the resort. The crowd level made the waits for food and dining quite long in addition to taking up a lot of the outdoor seating options around the resort. For me, if I have to deal with crowds and long dining waits, I might as well be at Disney World instead. I look for relaxation in Hawaii. Due to the congestion and waits, I’d pick a different resort (and a different island which is not a cement jungle) for future trips. Pros: -Beachfront location was great. Just steps to the ocean. -Pools were very nice and clean, lots of seating but it can fill up -We loved all of the dining and shopping options close by. -We enjoyed the onsite sail boat and submarine tour options, very convenient to had a little adventure. -We were really enjoying the shaded bar area of the Ali'i overlooking the ocean (until we were kicked out due to a private conference event) -Rooms were open and spacious (Ali’I Ocean Front Room Type) -Beds were comfortable. We didn’t like the feather pillows but they offered us great, soft foam pillows that were heavenly. I found the down comforter to be way too hot but ordered up a spare blanket that suited me much better. They also had a fan we were able to loan. -Nice shower toiletries, full sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower -Great to have an ABC store onsite for every day basics and fun souvenirs -We enjoyed the dining options onsite, both quick service and full service options -We found all of the staff to be very friendly, helpful, and accommodating Cons: -We weren't able to enjoy our 4th floor balcony very well due to the birds constantly swarming us, pooping all over the patio furniture, and trying to eat the food we were enjoying (we were on a low 4th floor balcony, maybe a higher floor would have probably been better?). I would have had to clean the furniture multiple times daily. We ended up just taking the inside chairs out at night when the birds would finally go away after dark. Due to this situation, I felt my splurge on the oceanfront view was wasted. My parents did partial ocean view and were on the 9th floor. They didn’t have the bird issues we did and had some nice shade for midday enjoyment of the patio. I asked for a higher room to improve the situation but was told they can’t move me due to the conference. -We found the rooms to be a little worn looking and in need of a good dusting and touch up paint job. Could use a little refresher, didn’t quite have that luxury vibe we were expecting. -Long waits for food and restaurants due to conference attendees. -Were kicked out of the shaded area of our private Ali’i pool so they could host conference parties. The other part of the pool area gets a lot of full, strong sun and is very hot midday. This is another reason I felt I didn’t get the value for splurging on the Ali’i tower. -A variety of dining options onsite were not available to use while the conference was in session as they would rent out the whole restaurant. Tip: The shades didn’t stay closed together well. Bring a chip clip to keep them together for a darker room. Read less

Breakfast in the Tropics grill was very good. I had the Hawaiian Eggs Benedict. The pulled pork instead of ham was a really nice change. Brian A was really good at his job. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He anticipated our questions and really made us feel welcome.
