Absolutely a wonderful location - no question. On the beach with beautiful views of two other islands. A place where people come to watch the sunsets and see whales. Stunning. The hotel/motel is average and in the middle of remodeling which I've been listening to all morning. I mentioned motel because the doors into a third of the rooms is from outside. In January, most rooms have no direct sun, so people that paid for ground floor rooms with patios and recliners are in the shade all day. The $30 per person buffet breakfast is comparable to what is offered at a Hampton Inn for free and served in something that resembles a high school cafeteria. The $25/day parking may or may not included in your rate is convenient but the spaces are tight so you may want to consider the rental car insurance. The restaurant is the Maui Brewing company's with typical prices and a limited menu which cannot be charged to your room. The Teralani boats pick up passengers here for tours which is super conveinent. The down side is - they park their boats here to wash them and leave their engines running while parked on the beach - so you get an obstructed view and exhaust whenever they decide to stop by. Again, the location can't be beat and it is listed as a 3 star hotel which is accurate. Read less

The Ka'anapali Beach Resort is our favorite place to stay in Maui. Our stay this time was different but still enjoyable. We booked through Capital One Travel a Garden View room. When we arrived we asked about upgrading. We were told there was one Ocean View room available for an extra $75 per night. We agreed to the extra cost. Unfortunately, it wasn't disclosed that there was construction/remodeling happening since OUTRIGGER had taken over operations. Construction noise would begin at 6:00am. The elevators nearest our room were often locked off for construction crews. Our room door was so badly sealed that, when the wind blew, it sounded like sirens going off, for hours. We brought our concerns to the staff at check out and they did refund half of our upgrade cost but our stay was somewhat less enjoyable than we had anticipated. We also were disappointed that the pool bar was not open most days maybe because of staff shortages and the pool restrooms were often locked making us have to use the lobby restrooms or the restaurant. This was our first stay since OUTRIGGER took over. We hope our next stay will find these issues resolved or we might need to look elsewhere. Read less

We first stayed here 25 years ago to celebrate our 5th anniversary and returned sans family to belatedly celebrate our 30th. We stayed in an oceanfront room in the renovated Papaku wing and we loved it. Rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Cant beat whale watching from the lanai! Outrigger provided nice metal refillable water containers to use with the water filling stations located around the resort to help discourage the need to buy bottled water. Nice touch! In room coffee was much appreciated. All staff encountered were super friendly and helpful. Be sure to take advantage of the many cultural offerings. The departure lei ceremony was especially moving. We loved the addition of Maui Brewing Company with live music. Parking is super convenient for the south and east wings since you van park on your floor and just walk same level to your room. Super convenient location to walk to all the attractions in Ka’anapali. West wing is currently under renovation, but was not a negative impact to our stay. They will supposedly be adding another pool to the grounds in the future, so you may want to check on that prior to booking as it might be more of a negative impact on the stay. If not renting a condo with family, this is where we’ll stay as a couple on future visits as long as they maintain what makes it so special. Read less

We had group of 5 families stayed there for 5 nights. Everytime you ask for something the answer was no. Place is nice, Location is good but service is extremily poor. We had big Ford Transit car and it was not turning on so we took help of a gentleman named Robert (who works in security) to borrow his jumper cable and we turned on the vehicle a day before departure and jumper cable belonged to Robert and it was not a property of resort. Robert agreed to land us for next day also and he left it at resort lobby for us to use it next day and return after we are done using in case if we needed that. The night manager stated that he is going to shoot a message to day team also that Robert is leaving a jumper cable for us to use if we need it. Our departure flight was at 5:30 PM and we booked whale watching at 12:30 PM thinking we can finish in 2 hrs and then can go for airport. So we went to front desk to ask for jumper cable as car was not starting again. Lady came out named Koui Kana and she refused to give us a jumper cable. We asked why and she said she can not. We asked her that it is not resort property and we can buy it from Robert who owens it and if she can connect us with him so we can zelle him and buy it from him and she refused to do so also. I went out side and asked few people to see if they have jumper cable in their car and if we can borrow but a big guy with glasses who I think was security manager asked me not to ask any body else for jumper cable and they started scavangering around us so we don't ask for anyone for help. I don't understand why? They were making all effort so we don't get our car Started and and during the whole process we missed the boat for whale watching which costed us a group about $1100. The resort team ganged up to destroy our day and I don't know what the motive was. I am very upset about this and have not seen this level of hostility from a resort who probably made above 10 to 15 K from us group of 5 family who stayed there for 5 nights. So, guys you think what rating I should give? Is there a way to give -5? Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Ocean view is not ocean voew

Do not believe that you will get an ocean view room- the ocean can only be seen if you are on your lanai and standing on a chair and then you can see a sliver of ocean. I am paying $566 to look at the pool courtyard. The manager will fight you and not work with you.
