Legend lives on at The Peabody, Memphis’s grandest address. Deep in the downtown district, it’s just blocks from the relics of rock ‘n’ roll and blues that made Memphis famous, including Beale Street, Gibson Guitar Factory, Sun Studio, and Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum. Its most famous residents arrived in 1933, when the General Manager put his hunting decoy ducks in the fountain after a tipple or two of Tennessee whiskey. In 1940, a circus trainer taught them to ‘march’ and they still perform twice a day for guests (needless to say, duck isn’t on the menu here). That’s not the only custom that lives on, there’s the Peabody Afternoon Tea, the extravagant Sunday Brunch, and the simple tradition of indulgence, with the 5 restaurants and bars, Grecian-style pool and whirlpool, summertime rooftop parties, and Feathers Spa.

We were about 200 at a professional meeting. It was perfect. The exhibitors had a room next door to the educational sessions, the staff was what I'd call "classy professional;" the servers even wore gloves for our group meal events. The Peabody is a great Southern Dame! The hotel is worth going out of your way to visit and stay a while. I would plan a trip to Memphis just to stay there. The staff are awesome throughout the entire hotel and conference areas!
Could have stayed somewhere else for much less money and bigger rooms

The “queen” bed was small for a queen and not as comfortable as we hoped from the way it was advertised on their site. We expected a mattress as comfortable as home or better for this establishment. The bathroom also very small and outdated. The shower head looked like it needed a good cleaning or replaced. Read less
NYE party trip

The hotel of the South was great, as it usually is. However, we purchased tickets not only for the party but to attend the party as VIP guests. The hotel of the South was great, as it usually is. However, we purchased tickets not only for the party but to attend the party as VIP guests. What we got was nothing like it appeared it would be from the advertisement we saw online. In fact I went to the online account from an email I received from the Peabody. We had no where to sit, nor a table to sit at if we didn't want to dance. The food was not as it was advertised until much later in the course of the party and by that time we had eaten from a lessor quality of food that had been brought out. The band had it's amplifiers to their speakers so high that it distorted the sound of the instruments and the singers voices to the point you couldn't even make out what the song they were sing was. I enjoyed the room and the lobby area but I will never attend the NYE party there again unless they do some major changes. Read less

When you walk in you're greeted by the beautiful lobby and the cute ducks swimming in the fountain. Everything is clean and smells amazing. Our room was an upgraded room but it was very spacious. We had turn down service with chocolates and robes. Everything is just perfect when we stay there. We've stayed there for years and will continue to do so. We love the Peabody! Read less
