Once described as ‘the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world’, the Club on Jekyll Island used to only welcome America’s wealthiest families and famous socialites, from the Rockefellers to the Vanderbilts. Today, this National Historic Landmark has been turned into the equally grand Jekyll Island Club Hotel, where you get a taste of its Victorian heyday and the highlife, with historic tours, croquet on the lawn, dinner in the Grand Dining Room, and strolls along the beach or in the oak forests where Victorian high society would have taken their constitutionals. It’s not all about the past though, you can enjoy modern pleasures like swimming near the river’s edge, and indulging in anything from high-end dishes to frozen drinks and fast food in the 6 bars and restaurants.

"Breakfast with Alex" @ The Jekyll Island Club Resort
Jan 21, 2025John LTampa, Florida
What a lovely weekend that exceeded all expectations. Everyone on the property welcomed us with warm southern hospitality but Alex (breakfast in the main house) was a clear stand out. The holiday decorations were amazing but we really enjoyed the slow pace and all of the history. We will be back soon!

If you would like to travel back in time and see how the other half lived this is the place. All the modern amenities to be more than comfortable while maintaining enough of the historical relevance to give a glimpse into a world most only read about.

The club grounds are beautiful. The staff make every effort to ensure your stay is delightful. We rode bikes, played croquet, ate smores, explored the property and enjoyed multiple sunsets. Such a relaxing week. I’m already planning my return visit.
Beautiful place. Worth the stay!

It’s a beautiful place. The grounds with the trees are breathtaking. I can’t wait to go back when it’s warm season and eat at the wharf. I love all the historical influences. And make to take the trolly ride around the club which was really good and provided so much history to make the place come alive.
