The Drake Hotel is in the finest location in Chicago, situated at the very tip of the Magnificent Mile Neighbourhood, and located right in front of Oak Street Beach overlooking Lake Michigan. It hasn’t lost any of the glitz or traditions which drew in Chicago’s glitterati for its grand opening on New Year’s Eve in 1920, and in the decades which followed. It still hosts High Tea, with its delicate petit fours and fragrant teas now served in the appropriately decadent Palm Court. You can still dine (and drink) at Coq d’Or, the city’s second venue to get that all-important liquor license after Prohibition ended in 1933. A milestone on The Magnificent Mile, with direct access Lake Michigan’s Oak Street Beach, be prepared for drama, history and luxury.

Stayed at the Drake hotel on the way to London last year. Typical American hotel with great service adn amenities. The food was fine and the beds really comfortable. The price was at the higher end of what I would have paid ideally but apart from that no real complaints
Excellent visit.

Perfect location at the north end of the magnificent mile. We stayed for 2 night and had a room looking towards lake michigan. The hotel is one of the grand old Chicago hotels an is a sight for itself (ask to see the ball room). The staff was very welcoming. our room was spacious and clean. Absolut recommendation - we would stay here again.

Had high expectations for our stay at The Drake for my birthday celebration but was sadly disappointed once we arrived in our room. Firstly I’ll start with the positives: we upgraded our room to a junior suite on a higher floor which was great. Our view was of the city but that was fine. The historic building itself is something to see and the hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. All good things. The disappointment was the small bathroom with very average amenities. Nothing special there. The water pressure was good, but the water doesn’t drain while you shower so you stand in a foot of water by the end. No bathrobes and regular bath towels. You have to request a refrigerator which will be brought up to you even though the cabinet has a space for one. No microwave available if you wanted to warm up anything and the coffee service is your average offering. TV service is local and streaming is by $$$ . WiFi was okay. I’ve stayed in many different hotels throughout Chicago over the past 40 years and was really looking forward to staying here. Sadly, I don’t believe that we will due to the lack of modern conveniences that aren’t available for the price of the room. Read less

Visiting Chicago with three generations of family for the holidays meant careful selection of events for our five day trip. The granddaughters especially wanted a holiday tea and the Drake, steeped in Chicago tradition, was the top choice. Carolers and live harpist with beautiful decorations made for a beautiful setting. To our happy surprise our server, Azmir, made our overall rating go from a 10 to a 15! His graciousness and good humor enhanced our experience. He really went above and beyond accommodating our special dietary needs. Read less
