The hotel manager refused to issue an invoice/ hotel bill. During my hundreds of stays using booking.com, this has never happened. While it is rarely required that booking.com contacts a hotel to remind them of their contractual obligation to issue an invoice, in 15 years, no hotel ever refused establishing the invoice after having received a call from booking.com. Not so in this case: the hotel manager keeps refusing and booking.com cannot help. Read less

Shoutout to their nice staff especially Averall, was extremely nice. My boyfriend called in to see if they did special room decorating for our anniversary. Averall and housekeeping staff was able to completely take care of it! When we walked in the room there was a bottle of wine and rose petals on the bed. Thank you again Averall! Read less

My Premier View King room had a great outlook to the bay and downtown San Francisco. Located in Nob Hill adjacent to the two other major hotels, it is on two cable car lines. It was great waking up to the view in the morning. The room was large and spacious, with a combined bathroom/wardrobe area separate from the main bedroom. The King Bed was comfortable and I slept well. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Two bugbears for me: the combined tub/shower with curtain – just a personal preference that I’m not a fan of that set up. There was also noise from the street, especially the cable cars, and the windows were not very effective at blocking that out (I slept with earplugs). There was one major negative. This is a large hotel covering half a city block over eight floors, with dozens of rooms per floor. It has three lifts to service the eight floors – except during the duration of my four night stay only one of the three lifts were working. That meant waits of up to 15 minutes during peak times, and I ended up using the fire stairs on a few occasions on the way down. In some respects I was lucky to be on the top floor, because the lifts could be full by the time we reached lower levels. Read less

The mixing room. Manuel was amazing suggesting beers to Roy and food. All excellent by the way. The food at teh hotel, albeit limited menu, was outstanding Bad points: 1. Only 1 elevator working for the entirety of my trip which was 7 night; often meaning you had to wait between 20 and 30 minutes for one with space to take you up or down. This is totally unacceptable - it meant I missed a food delivery and many Ubers etc. Tempers were fraying (not mine) and I think the hotel missed a tick by not communicating to guests and every time you asked at the front desk a different excuse was used. 2. Bathrooms very tired and dated (think motel 1970s) and not to a 4* standard 3. Cleaning hit or miss - my room was missed twice 4. Bottled water - issue as lifts were not working so could not refill. Hotel ran out of bottled water as delivery wasnt made - heck send a member of the staff to Costco to grab some slabs of water ! Its not rocket science Bottom line is the management dont appear to grasp how to run a successful 4* hotel and missed some quick winds during my trip . At checkout Ray listened and understood (he is a gem) but sadly the cloak of invisibility of any senior members of staff during my visit means I wont return, many other hotels in same area delivering a better bang for my buck. The lift issue was completely unacceptable and in hindsight I should have checked out and gone next door to The Mark or Fairmont . All that was needed was a note from a manager acknowledging it and say what was happening to remedy it but to be honest we didn’t think they cared one jot what guests think Read less

Very nice hotel within the Nob Hill area. The area itself was clean and safe with a lot of bars and restaurants conveniently within steps of the hotel. Within a stones throw of the hotel there are also a couple of quiet small parks, St. Mary’s Square and Huntington park in either direction of the hotel which allow you to take in the vibes of the city. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and offered bottles of water and the check in was done smoothly without issue. Each day when walking past the reception the hotel staff were constantly greeting us and were generally friendly each time we encountered them. The room was spacious enough and came with a mini fridge and a seating area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was split in two sections, the bath/shower and the sink area which allows two people to get ready. The room also allowed you to get a great skyline view of the city. On a clear day you can see the Transamerica Pyramid building and the ocean. There are just a few small things to mention, nothing major but the hotel is in a reasonable location with one thing being that there are cable car stops outside which is a good thing when getting around the city however at night and early in the morning the sound was very much present and quite loud within the room. We noticed it a few times during our stay, luckily we had early mornings and late nights while in San Francisco but if it was the other way around and you were planning on sleeping in or having an early night then this could potentially be a issue. There also seemed to be a Phantom lift at the hotel which may have been fixed by the time of this review but while we were there the right of the 3 lifts had a mind of its own and took us to random floors when we used it both up and down, it seemed to take you to 2 extra floors before reaching the final correct destination. It also randomly liked to keep opening and closing its doors before finally closing it and moving to the reception floor. No other lift did this and we did hear others speak about it in the lobby area. Pretty minimal stuff but was just a little tiresome after a long day in the city. I would certainly recommend this hotel, friendly staff, nice area and decent size rooms. Read less
