Mammoth Mountain Inn

Mammoth, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

Built in 1957, Mammoth Mountain Inn was Mammoth's first ski-resort accommodation and the only slope-side hotel at Mammoth's Main Lodge. Today it offers activities year round — in summer there's hiking, biking and outdoor adventures, and in winter it's a core skiers' and snowboarders' paradise, with the ultimate entry point to the slopes. Ski to the hotel at the end of the day and you can soon be blowing the steam off your hot toddy. Take a dip in the outdoor pool or one of the indoor or outdoor hot tubs. The Yodler dining terrace is the ideal place for a light snack on a sunny day and the great après-ski atmosphere in the Dry Creek Lounge is further enhanced by regular live music.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great spot steps from the chairlift

Great stay, very friendly staff. Seth and Cody really helped me out when I arrived early. No easier way to get onto the mountain for a few days to rip it up. It's not the fanciest of accommodations, but if you're going to mammoth you're going for the hill to either ski/snowboard or mountain bike not for a fancy hotel stay.

An older hotel right at the base of 3 lifts, so great access for skiing from the Main Lodge.. Underground parking and hot tubs were nice (although some were not "hot". Would not recommend the standard queen room; no desk, table or chair. Upgrade to the double queen or king to get these "amenities." Limited menu at the hotel bar/restaurant.

We stayed here for 3 nights just before Christmas and had the most wonderful time. Andi + Tori were a huge help to get us booked and into our rooms. Both of them were so kind! The location is great, super easy to get on and off the hill. The main lobby has a small store for snacks and coffee shop! So nice to grab something as you head out. We will… Read more

In this review, I only want to mention how helpful staff at the reception was with an issue that came up with some Passcash from pre-COVID times. Last season, people at the reception in the Inn and at the ticket counter as well as people at the hotline were all singularly UNhelpful. In this review, I only want to mention how helpful staff at the reception was with an issue that came up with some Passcash from pre-COVID times. Last season, people at the reception in the Inn and at the ticket counter as well as people at the hotline were all singularly UNhelpful. This trip, however, I talked to a supervisor called Cydney and a manager called Victoria (Serre) at the reception and they were just exemplary. They got on the phone to figure things out and didn't stop when it indeed became difficult; they remained patient and helpful until everything was resolved. That was true customer service rather than the oh-so-frequent "so sorry I can't help you, go away and call this hotline!", they were great. Read less
