I am a regular at the Grosvenor House Dubai and usually stay 25-30 nights every year. Most of the staff and management know me there and recognize my Titanium Elite status. So I know what to expect and that’s why I always stay at the GHH whether on business or pleasure. On my most recent trip I stayed for 10 days and had another pleasant experience (with a few caveats below). I waited for the craziness of the holiday season to be over and visited a few days after New Year’s. By then the hotel had quietened down. The reception manager upgraded me to a nice room upon checkin. Received the usual wonderful service for the most part and special shout out to some of the unsung heroes who go above and beyond: Ram (chef at breakfast buffet), Pritam (house keeping who serviced my room with a smile each day), Prashant (bell desk who is so welcoming and always has a smile), Jordan and Javier in concierge who made some very nice recommendations. The caveats: - Ate at Indego one evening. Been there many times and they remembered me. Told them not to make the food spicy at all. One of the two appetizers was still spicy and my guest barely touched it. They apologized but didn’t comp the dish. - The quality of the executive lounge wasn’t up to its usual high standards For one, there has been a lot of staff turnover there. Secondly, they didn’t have the ingredients to make my usual cocktail. They did for the first two days and then strung me along for the rest of my stay with lame excuses. I had the same cocktail in the other bars in the hotel and I asked why don’t you get a little cognac from there, they have it because I paid for the same drink in those places. Complained to the reception manager who said he would take care of it. He didn’t. When I followed up again, didn’t get a response! Frankly, the quality of the executive lounge is what differentiated the GHH from the Taj Exotica Dubai for me. So I will reconsider future stays at the GHH given the quality of the Taj Exotica offering (newer property, on the beach, legendary Taj service etc). after checking out, was in communication with the hotel for a copy of my receipt. They were very responsive. But when I asked them what the service charge of 10% was for, and whether it was payable to the government or the hotel, and if to the hotel, then was it a discretionary charge, the trail went cold and they stopped responding!!! We had another incredible stay as per usual at Grosvenor House. From the moment your car arrives at either tower mine is usually tower 2 you feel like you’ve come home / a VIP. Check-in was wonderful with a lovely welcome drink. You are shown to your room / suite by one of the butler team - this trip was Naeem and as always he was amazing and so helpful (they even offer to come and unpack your luggage for you). The suite we had was immaculately clean as always, spacious rooms and bathrooms with great showers. Byredo toiletries in the bathroom, pod coffee machine, kettle and everything else you would expect of a great 5 star property. Level 5 is still superb and the staff were lovely and they keep you fed from morning till night - with a great breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés served here. A special thank you to Rony, Lucia, Romel and all the team in level 5 for always going above and beyond for being so kind and helpful we truly appreciate it. Housekeeping is second to none at GH and a big thank you to all the team for their efforts whilst we stayed. Between LRM and GH you have a multitude of restaurants to choose from, we thoroughly enjoyed Maya but also the buffet at Sloanes. The pools at LRM are fantastic and is a short bus ride or walk away. The staff and pool at GH in tower is amazing and the team are so lovely. Honestly I’m running out of superlatives to describe this fantastic hotel and the amazing team they have - from the management Laura, Renalie, Chandra, Ehtisham, Letty, Jubesh, Shoaib, Ganesh, Ebraheem and anyone else’s names I have forgotten to mention the long standing staff members who create the most amazing holiday experience for guests. Yet another fantastic stay at GH. Immediately upgraded on arrival which set the tone for a great week. A club room and half board is the way to go with excellent set menus at Rhodes, Toro Toro and Siena. Can honestly say that the food, service and setting at Siena is as good as it gets. Apart from a particularly poor serving experience on our first night at Rhodes which was quickly remedied, this trip was close on faultless. It is Dubai and the price of alcohol is steep and wine is particularly ferocious. Almost enough to put me off my Hendricks but not quite! Treat yourself and book the GH. It is sans pareil. Read less
