The hotel

Waiting for your drinks to arrive as you laze on white sands, shaded by a coconut palm. Taking a dip in a lagoon pool among tropical plants and dining and drinking terraces. Stepping out on your balcony to soak in endless sea views before heading out for dinner. This may be the stuff of daydreams, but it’s the true island experience guests come to enjoy when staying at the adults-only Solana Beach. It does deliver a delicious cliché, but this hotel also comes with its own unique twists, like the nod to the sixties and seventies in your spacious guestroom, which is otherwise thoroughly modern. It also gives you the option to do absolutely nothing – or to pack your days with cycling, diving, snorkelling, and even complimentary glass-bottom boat trips, and your nights with island entertainment and meals in three delectable restaurants.

It was amazing. The views are beautiful. The hotel is right next to the beach. The meals are buffet and tasty. Great range of food. The staff are generally friendly. Daily sports activities. Free access to water activities: kyaking, glass boat, smoking, etc. Access to the island excursions arranged by the hotel.

I booked to stay at Solana Beach Mauritius for 10 nights with half board. For personal reasons I could no longer stay here, but I was able to still use the facilities for the duration of my stay because I had already paid. All the staff were so hospitable, caring and very positive! There was always someone available to help. The location was perfect! Right by the beautiful beach and shops within a 30min walk distance. The pool area was nice with enough seats, umbrella’s, along with a jacuzzi. They have 3 restaurants. But I could only use the Buffet Restaurant as that was included in my package, the others you had to book and pay extra. Things to improve- The hotel could definitely take sometime off to be refurbished. Yes, I did see contractors around fixing things here and there but it would be useful for everything to be updated altogether. I was shocked to find out that people with the All Inclusive package had to pay for certain drinks. Consider changing the name from ‘All Inclusive’ to ‘Majority Inclusive’. You also have to pay for water, there was no free option. Only at breakfast you were able to have free hot/cold beverages. Consider adding free jugs of water at lunch and dinner. Overall a very good and positive experience from this lovely hotel! Read less

I am staying in Mauritius for 2 weeks and since we like a change of scenery I booked this hotel on all inclusive basis for one night. This is the most bizarre place I’ve stayed at. Here are the main highlights for you to get a flavour of why you DO NOT want to come here: We parked, the security guard waits until we parked and he says NO, you cannot park like that, management says that you the front of the car has to be facing the exit not the wall. Strange but ok I move the car We check in and we are told since we are in between breakfast and lunch we have to wait until 12 to get some food but we could ask for some snacks. Of course the room was not ready (even though you can tell they are not at full occupancy they made sure to wait until 2pm to give us the room) we come to the bar and asked for snacks and they said no there are no snacks you have to wait until 12, we said but reception said we could get snacks and the answer was that they were new and didn’t know. So NO food and no Snacks We go sit somewhere else and my wife manages to get the famous snacks. We sit by a beach bar order some drinks and notice that most of the drinks in the menu are not part of the all inclusive package. We want a sex on the beach and of course the answer is NO unless we want to pay about 8 euros for it. We are getting ready to have food by the beach and to our surprise ALL of the food items in the menu are on top of the all inclusive package. They said if you want to eat for free you go to the buffet restaurant. We did go and my wife spots an empty table by the water. We asked to be seated since it’s clearly empty and we are told NO, someone might be there. If no one is we will move you later. We eat our food and of course the table we wanted remained empty the whole time and no one moved us. At this point we are tired of this hotel. None of the drinks we want or food is part of the so called all inclusive. We tried dinner and they only have one a la carte hotel and when we tried to sit there the answer was, NO, we are fully booked, go to the buffet. The theme of the buffet was “Chinese night” with interesting dishes I’ve never seen in any Chinese restaurant I ate in before like “Chinese pizza” which resembled a lot the regular pizza we had for lunch. The next morning we wake up early head to an almost empty restaurant at around 7:20 am. We want to sit by the sea and I casually grab a chair to sit only to be told again NO, that table is reserved for 4 people. I looked at around at an empty restaurant with around 30 free tables and I just don’t understand what is wrong with this hotel. Water activities, also No, too windy, we don’t have and on and on and on. This property is designed to make your stay miserable, not to mention that the premises are badly run down and not looking like the pictures you will see online. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL We sit somewhere else and somehow Read less

We did snorkelling, paddle boarding and went on the glass bottom boat - all inclusive no extra cost . The view and location was the best thing about this hotel . I have attached some pictures to show how beautiful. The pool area was lovely , decking needs attention. The hotel grounds are just perfect and tranquil. I would 100% go back . Thank you . Read less
