The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

Where is it

At the foot of the Le Morne Mountain in the southwest corner of Mauritius. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

149 rooms and suites, all with air-conditioning, balcony or terrace, flatscreen TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi Internet access, Tropical Bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer, iron and board (upon request). Deluxe Rooms with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 Teen or 1 child or 1 infant.

Board basis options

Half Board option: includes breakfast at The Kitchen and dinner at either The Kitchen, The Beach and East.

Full Board option: includes breakfast at The Kitchen. Lunch at The Kitchen, The Beach, The Bar. Dinner at The Kitchen, The Beach and East.

- Wellness: Yoga & stretching classes, fitness centre, sauna, steam room, whirlpool and spa garden (mandatory reservation subject to availability at the Spa - adults only)

- Water sports: Water-skiing, glass bottom boat trips, snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaks, pedal boat, small catamaran, mini sailing as per weather and tide conditions

- Land activities: Unlimited access to our gym centre, floodlit tennis courts (rackets and tennis ball provided), table tennis, bocce balls, beach volley.

Please note: All Inclusive starts from your arrival time at the resort until your departure from the resort. Meals and drinks to be chosen from applicable All Inclusive menus. The hotel reserves the right to close up to two restaurants throughout the year.

Room upgrades

Junior Suites with double bathtub and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child/teen (under 17 years).

Sunset Junior Suites with double bathtub, balcony and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Prestige Junior Suites are on the beachfront and have an outdoor shower and bath, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults, plus 1 infant.

Ocean Junior Suites are perched on the water’s edge, overlooking the lagoon, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child/teen (under 17 years).

Family Suites consist of 1 Prestige Junior Suite and 1 Ocean Junior Suite, sleeping a maximum of 4 adults or 3 adults and 1 teen or 2 children or 2 adults and 2 teens or 3 children or 2 infants or 2 adults and 3 children and 1 infant.

The Kitchen (main restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner), The Beach (healthy Mediterranean cuisine, open for lunch and dinner), East (Thai cuisine, open for dinner. Not included in any meal plans. A credit of MUR 800 on food is granted to every Half Board, Full Board and All-Inclusive guest.). The Bar, IIot and Oasis swim-up bars, Cafe LUX* (fine made-on-site coffee). 

Each evening, an eclectic mix of local and global talents, live performances and music are featured.

Its been almost a year since my family and I visited- and here I am- thinking about LUX Le Morne. An older property no doubt. Reef is pretty much gone. Perhaps one could argue the property is a tad too close to the road... But that is where the issues stop. What service. What commitment to quality. Ashok the GM is leading the charge when it comes to delighting his guests. Close behind him is Executive Chef Saurabh- watching his teams like a hawk and supporting them in the kitchen- a foodie's delight. The Thai restaurant was a total blast and the Omakase Japanese restaurant was epic. Great wine selection and always new savors to discover. Our daughter loved the kids club- coming back with a stream of arts and crafts for us. Movie night was great. Dolphin swimming trip was great and those sunsets- just magical. As we loaded our rental to return to MRU and fly home to CH, I discovered a Mauritian classic: A FLAT TYRE!! Worse, it was stuck in the car with no tools or instructions to remove the tyre (Chinese car with a donut and not your usual rental for us Europeans) as much as I tried, the tyre could not be removed. Time was ticking! Flight was going to depart and we had 1hr20 drive to do! LUX team swing into action and within 15" we were sorted and on the road- no sweat. Warmly recommended. Just finished dinner at East at Lux Le Morne and the food was absolutely phenomenal! Special thank you and shout out to chef Abishek, chef Jai, and the most amazing and caring staff! Will definitely be back and highly recommend to all who stay at the hotel

We spent some time deciding which of the many beach hotels in Le Morne would suit our needs and made the absolute BEST decision in choosing The Lux. The location is, of course, breathtaking but more than that the hotel has been so sympathetically designed as to be utterly respectful of the nature in which it sits. Almost hidden as you look at it from the water, it is perfectly elegant but totally unostentatious. There’s no awful blasting music on the beach, so the sounds of the waves crashing over the reef and the birds above you in the palms are all you hear. The rooms are crisp and chic and I don’t think I’ve ever slept better on a holiday. We did half board which was great for us as the breakfasts are plentiful and dinner at The Beach restaurant was a treat every night ( tho the wines are not for the faint hearted!) The service is attentive without being overbearing and all of the staff are lovely. Particular mentions go to Melaney for sorting our room so quickly at the beginning of the holiday, to Annunto for ensuring we always had a table on the beach! To Hans, Irving, Audrey, Ivrishna and the wonderful Hossen who waved us off in style and to all the team for making our stay so easy. The lux is a gem - long may it stay that way. Read less
