The hotel

Nestled on the secluded island of Kedhigandu, Hotel RIU Palace Maldivas offers an exclusive retreat where you can unwind in overwater villas or beachfront suites with modern comforts and breathtaking views. Featuring several dining options, including buffet and à la carte restaurants serving a variety of international cuisines, you can also enjoy delicious meals and snacks at the neighbouring Hotel RIU Atoll as part of their 24-hour, All-Inclusive package. There are plenty of activities to enjoy too, both on land and in the water - relax by the infinity pool, or hop over to Hotel RIU Atoll to indulge in spa treatments, or make a splash with the water sports on offer such as snorkelling, diving, and kayaking.

Where is it

On the private island of Kedhigandu, part of Dhaalu Atoll. The resort is connected to the hotel RIU Atoll via a walkway. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 55 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

176 rooms. All with balcony or terrace, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, drink dispensers, mini-bar, kettle, hairdryer, bathrobes, complimentary WiFi access, and safe. 

Junior Suites with sea views have 1 king-size bed or two small double beds, plus a sofa in the lounge area, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

24-hour All-Inclusive: all meals and snacks. Local and imported beverages served 24-hours a day (including bars and restaruants at Hotel RIU Atoll). Regularly restocked mini-bar. Sports, activities and entertainment unless otherwise stated. Room service.

- Breakfast: varied buffet, live cooking station and Cava

- Lunch: buffet with live cooking stations and assorted desserts

- Dinner: buffet with live cooking stations and assorted desserts. Special evenings: twice a week.

Junior Suites with beach access have 1 king-size bed or two small double beds, plus a sofa or sofa-bed in the lounge area, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Overwater Suites feature a terrace with bathtub, a Balinese bed, sun loungers and direct access to the sea. Suites have 1 king-size bed or two small double beds plus a sofa in the lounge area, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Spacious Overwater Suites with private pool boast a patio with direct access to the sea, a small private pool, a Balinese bed and sun loungers. Suites have 1 king-size bed or two small double beds plus a sofa in the lounge area, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Palm (buffet restaurant with live cooking stations and outdoor terrace, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner). Krystal (fusion restaurant, open for dinner). Yu Hi (Japanese restaurant, open for dinner). Paradise (poolside bar serving snacks and drinks, with swim-up bar for guests over 18 years).

Live music (several times a week). 

Infinity swimming pool. Sports and activities at RUI Atoll including: gym, group fitness activities in the RiuFit area (six times a week), Renova spa*, kayaks, pedaloes, stand up paddle surf and snorkelling equipment. Daytime entertainment programme for children ages 4-7 years and ages 8-12 years at "RiuLand" at Hotel RUI Atoll. 

Access to Hotel RIU Atoll located on the neighbouring island of Maafushi, which you can access by footbridge. Room service*. Complimentary WiFi throughout hotel. Laundry service*.

Pure paradise. Couldn't find a single thing to complain about. The best Riu Palace we have ever stayed in. Friendly staff. Some even remembered your names after telling them only once. Excellent food, excellent service. Would love to go back some day.

The only downsides we could find (not for us but in general) is getting Riu Atoll beach rooms and/or water villas meant much worse water clarity/quality (albeit better sand and water entrance), but also less attractive food options. I would like to thank Mrs. Desi, Mrs. Kristini, Mr. Sanju and Mr. Romesh for their service, it was by far the best we ever got in any hotel (and we travelled tens of times, including 3 other RIUs). Front office was also extremely helpful in arranging small things for my partner's birthday, even if the romantic dinner and other options were not available due to ... high occupancy. Transfers were great, we did get the seaplane coming in, indeed a nice view and great experience but it was equally if not more time consuming than boat + line option. Cleanliness was incredible - the Room team did a very good job refreshing things everyday, everything was maintained in superb condition (even if we tried not to mess things up and kept things tidy). Myself & my Wife have recently returned from our holiday at Riu Palace. I would just like thank everyone at the resort for your hospitality. Even before we arrived at the resort the communication with your reception and transfer staff was very easy and efficient. Once we had arrived in Male everything was handled professionally, from the staff at the airport to the way the Seaplane transfer was handled. Then we arrived at your wonderful island and we were treated like royalty. All your staff are a credit to the company and every single one of them had a smile on there face and a welcomed us with an hello. I would particulary like to mention a few individuals who we found to offer the highest level of service that anyone could give. Kristianni & Dewi in the buffet resteraunt and then Samee, Sanju, Desy, Chami, Chamo, Chamnika, Isunu, Poonum & Amanda in the Palace Bar, all these individuals welcomed us as though we were long lost friends and made our holiday very special. We were always greeted with a smile and the service they offered was exceptional. As I have said previousley all your staff are a credit to you and I feel guilty that I cannot name everyone as they all deserve a special mention. We are looking forward already to our next visit. The staff add to the beauty of this resort, we have never experienced service like it, special huge shout outs to Desy, Sanju, Chamod, Romesh, Sami, Marchee & Chamee at the Bar - you are all wonderful and made our stay so special. Another shout out to DJ Lakvinda for the amazing DJ sets, seeing in the sunsets at the Palace side and the party nights on the Atoll side!
